Alright, here's the article some of you have been asking for a while in the rookie chat, namely my DSFL mock draft. I could've wrote this article a lot sooner - it's been a few days since DSFL pre- draft started, after all - but the absolute chaos that was ISFL callup and position change prevented me as I had absolutely no idea what on earth was going on up there, and therefore had no idea what the teams needed. And while that chaos still hasn't been fully resolved yet, I have a lot more clearer picture of the needs of each teams in DSFL (and also this was basically the last chance for a mock draft as the draft presentation is only about a day and a half away). So let's start the mock draft!
Before we start
Before I begin this mock draft, I need to explain some things. First, as I am not in any DSFL war room (or I won't be writing this), I have absolutely no access to insider information. That means I have no idea on crucial information such as willingness to position switch or a user's compatibility to a team. So I will be writing this mock draft only using information which is either available to me (such as TPE level and activity), and what I am able to infer from looking at TPE tracker and other documents that display the status of each DSFL teams (such as positional needs). As such, this mock draft most likely will be absurdly inaccurate. So rookies, please only view this mock draft as a fun piece to alleviate the boredom, and don't use it to gauge your draft stock, or to set an expectation on where in the draft you should be going.
Another thing I have no idea on is the draft strategy of the teams, more specifically their preferences of rookies. From what I gathered from multiple sources, it is true that DSFL GMs like to draft rookies high, and that they will try to draft a new user in the first round. However, looking at past draft results I have found instances of recreates being drafted in the first round, as well as the case of S44 DSFL draft (for S45 class) where only 2 out of 8 first rounders were rookies. So I interpreted this as a sign that GMs are in no way obliged to draft a rookie in the first round. So in this mock draft I will prioritize rookies when possible, but will include recreate players in the first round if necessary.
Round 1
1.01 (1st overall) select LB Willeh Strong
If there is a pick that I can confidently predict, it's this one. Willeh is the most logical choice in this spot for multiple reasons. First, he is a defensive player. From what I see in the TPE tracker, the Portland Pythons are in dire need of any defensive position, as all they have in their defense is a defensive end, a linebacker and a cornerback. So they'll naturally seek to draft the best available defender on the draft board, which Willeh is.
In terms of TPE, Willeh might not be the "best defensive player". But that's of little matter. Willeh will get to the 250TPE cap just as fast as any other max earning player (as he is one himself), and will be a maxed player for the Pythons by the start of next season. The important thing here is Willeh's value as a user. Willeh, or WetWilleh, is perhaps the most active user in this whole draft class. He is insanely active in both rookie and general discord servers (to the point he is ranked #1 in rookie discord), and from what I understand already got hired as a media grader recently. And from my interactions with him in the public servers, he's a great guy all around, which is also just what teams are looking for in their potential draft picks. So I think he will be a great addition to Portland locker room, and will be very helpful in boosting the activity of that server for seasons to come.
1.02 (2nd overall) select LB Mac Mannheim
When you look at Norfolk's roster, you can see two very peculiar facts. One is that there are only 8 players there, and the other is that 4 of those 8 players are cornerbacks and safeties. So it's probably safe to say cornerback is not a need for the Seawolves at this point. So my guess at Norfolk's choice here would be another linebacker in Mac Mannheim. Sitting at 109TPE, Mannheim might not look like a top caliber player at first glance. However, like Willeh Strong, who just got picked with the previous pick, Mannheim's true value is in the user who is behind him.
Mannheim's user, ACynicalGamer, can be found in either the rookie or the general discord server very easily as he is quite active in both of them. As one of the "gen chat yappers" along with Willeh, he is also a great guy to be around from my experience of talking with him. He also wrote several long media pieces, writing the very first DSFL mock draft of this offseason along with 3 prospect bowl recap articles which I greatly enjoyed. So all in all, I believe Mannheim and ACynicalGamer will be a very valuable addition to the Seawolves.
1.03 (3rd overall) select CB Jet Larson
As a team with no apparent hole at linebacker position (due to their 2 maxed linebackers), the Bondi Beach Buccaneers have benefited from the mini- LB run at the start of the draft, as it have allowed them to pick the best defensive player who is not a linebacker. And in my opinion that player wil be Jet Larson. At 102TPE, Larson will be an immense help to Bondi Beach secondary which currently has only 2 out of 5 (including nickel) spots filled, with them having a cornerback and a safety each).
Apart from the fact that the player is a positional fit, Larson's user, Doc, is also very active. He is another regular chatter in the rookie chat, and can be seen participating in NFL mock draft conversation in rookie chat. He also ventures out to gen chat, and has a graphics submission to his name so far. I think Doc will be a good fit user wise to Bondi Beach's locker room, and he'll have a good sim league home in there.
1.04 (4th overall) select CB Sam Coverdale
In my opinion, the Kansas City Coyotes can take one of the two courses of action with this pick. Either they can select the best remaining rookie defensive player, or they can select the best offensive rookie of the class, which in my opinion will be wide receiver Seer Ial. Out of those two options, I have Kansas City placing more value on defense (as defenders are a lot more harder to get in the draft than WRs), and selecting the best available rookie defender in cornerback Sam Coverdale.
At first glance, Coverdale, whose TPE level is currently at 89, might not seem like a flashy prospect. However, Coverdale is a player who created relatively late into creation window (post ultimus if I remember right), and all things considered he's basically earning max. Also his user, Civvy, is great too. On top of being active in the rookie chat, Civvy is a very unique user in a sense that he has a great character for his player in place. Through media article and rookie chat banter, Civvy has established his player's persona as self- advertised "best cornerback of the draft", and I personally love that. I think he will be a very valuable addition to Kansas City locker room with his activity and character, and be a great CB2 for the team next season.
1.05 (5th overall) select WR Seer Ial
The case of the Tijuana Luchadores shows just how dynamic the DSFL is. The Luchadores, who was one of the favorites to win the Ultimus, boasted a very well- built roster last season. However, that almost- ultimini winning roster has now been completely gutted, due to ISFL callups and inactive players being removed from the sim due to ineligibility. So going into DSFL draft, the Luchadores are here with a destitute roster of only 6 players and a lot of holes to fill.
At this point, the Luchadores can choose one of the two options. They can either draft wide receiver Seer Ial, who like I mentioned is the best offensive rookie in this draft. Or they can draft their choice of recreate defenders, who will most likely be top player from either defensive tackle, cornerback or linebacker position. Between those two scenarios, I have the Luchadores favoring new talent and drafting Ial. Recreates will be still available in the second round considering the current meta of the draft, after all.
Ial more than qualifies as the best offensive rookie of the class, too. A max earning wide receiver, Ial currently stands at 153TPE, near the top of TPE scale for S48 players. Apart from that feat, Ial has a great user behind him in omg. Apart from being a regular member in prospect bowl stream time rookie chat, omg is a great media writer, who wrote 2 very creative media articles comparing ISFL and DSFL teams with marble snap decks and pokemon trainers, respectively. Tijuana gains their WR1 of the future (as this upcoming season will be the last for their current WR1), and a great user to their locker room here.
1.06 (6th overall) select OL Big Tractor
Minnesota was another favorite to win the ultimini during last season. And unlike Tijuana, it seems like their roster took less of a hit from callups and IA kills, or at least that's what the TPE tracker is showing. At this point the Grey Ducks have quality players in almost all positions, and as such they need not worry about filling out a very urgent need in any position. So this means that they are one of the only teams who have enough depth in the roster to draft a non- skill position player early on. So at this pick I have the Grey Ducks drafting the best rookie player available, who will be offensive lineman Big Tractor.
As a player who currently has 135TPE to his name, big tractor is most certainly is a top tier prospect. He sits near the top of the TPE scale among rookies, and I expect him to achieve the cap before he suits up for his second season, as from what I'm seeing he looks like a max earner. As a rare human tackle in DSFL, Tractor will be immensely effective in a DSFL offensive line usually full of 50TPE bots. On top of those advantage, the user behind tractor, Nectorist, will also be bringing something else to Minnesota. Nectorist is a discord active user who can be seen in the rookie discord regularly, and he had posted a couple great articles as well. I think he'll be a great fit for Minnesota's boisterous locker room.
1.07 (7th overall) select OL Stone Wall
The holder of the seventh overall pick is the London Royals, who ended their season in an ultimini loss to Dallas after upsetting Minnesota in the conference Championships. And like Minnesota, it seems like their roster has mostly evaded the fate of being completely gutted. At this moment according to the TPE tracker London is pretty much set in most positions, with their main needs being runningback and cornerback. But as they can draft a runningback easily in later rounds and they have a maxed player at cornerback, I again have London going for the best rookie player available like Minnesota did, which results in them drafting another offensive lineman, Stone Wall.
Sitting at exactly 100TPE, Stone Wall will be exactly what his name suggests for the Royals. He'll be a cornerstone left tackle in London for seasons to come, and will be a great contributor in protecting their quarterback Scudi McDiddi. On the user side, user brfy is a user who came from one of our affiliate leagues, the PBE. So I think he'll have no trouble fitting in, as the two leagues share many things from TPE system to users. At the moment bfry is active in both gen and rookie discord servers, and had written an introductory media piece for his player. All in all, I think he will be a great addition for London.
1.08 (8th overall) select DT GCBWRNW Princess Donut
Sitting at the last pick of the first round, the ultimini winner Dallas Birddogs are facing a dilema. While they are a team with a history of drafting good rookie users, but almost all of the well earning, discord active rookies have been drafted by other teams. So do they uphold their team tradition of drafting a rookie user in the first round (at least it was a tradition about 15 seasons ago), or they go for the best pick here? In this scenario, I have them choosing the latter option and drafting the best player available, defensive tackle GCBWRNW Princess Donut.
Princess Donut is the best choice here for Dallas for a number of reasons. First, he is a max earner with history of multiple players who had enjoyed long, fruitful careers in the ISFL. It is most likely that he will be a max earner this time around, and that means Dallas will be gaining a defensive tackle who will be at the cap by the end of this season.
Apart from that, there's the fact that OrbitingDeath, the user behind Princess Donut, is one of the Dallas OGs and an overall great guy to be around. OD's first player in ISFL, runningback Kobra Kai, is inducted in Birddogs hall of fame, and OD is well known and loved by older users in Dallas. So I can definitely see Dallas drafting OD, gaining a stud DT on the sim and reuniting with team OG and legend on the locker room.
2.01 (9th overall) select DT Lheorvine Adebisi
With the current trend of the DSFL draft favoring rookies in the first round, the second round of the draft has in turn became a round heavy of recreate players. And as Dallas started the run on recreates with their pick of Princess Donut, I'm expecting this trend to continue. Most likely scenario in this early stage of recreate run is a run on recreate DTs, of there are 2 remaining due to Princess Donut already being drafted. As defensive linemen are very hard to optain and good earners in the position even more so, I think teams in this range will be scrambling to get a good defensive lineman. So that's why I have Portland selecting defensive tackle Lheorving Adebisi with their second round pick.
At 144TPE, Adebisi is a max earner in a position which is valued very, very highly. So it's not much of a surprise that he'll be a hot commodity. Adebisi will be a plug- and- play starter and ace in the Pythons' defensive line which is in a bad need for new blood. And on top of being a good player, Adebisi has a great and reliable user behind in Alikh. Alikh is currently working as a HO intern, and had made a lot of contributions to the league during his sim league career so far. So I think he will be a great pick for the Pythons at the start of the second round.
2.02 (10th overall) select DE Rex Havoc
Due to the run on defensive tackles on the previous two picks, there is no recreate defensive tackle remaining on the board for Norfolk to pick with their 10th overall pick. Fortunately for them, however, Norfolk will meet their savior of the defensive line in the form of rookie Defensive end Rex Havoc. Currently sitting at 92TPE, Havoc is a player who create very late into the creation window and have earned very well ever since. And while there are talks of DE being slightly inefficient in comparison to DT in this sim, Havoc will be the stud of the Seawolves' defensive line. And while the user behind Havoc, Muddym13, is not very active in discord, he is quite active and earning in the forums, and had written a media article while completing most of the available tasks. I think Havoc will be a great addition to Norfolk here.
2.03 (11th overall) select LB Robot Sunfish
So I had the Bondi Beach Buccaneers select my own player - linebacker Robot Sunfish - with the 11th pick. And while the pick might not make sense at first - as the Buccaneers are listed as having 2 maxed linebackers according to the TPE tracker - it will sense when you hear the reasoning behind. So, as this player is mine, I naturally had more access to information regarding this player. During the scouting conversation with their scout (@WalterYensid thank you for the scouting btw it was great), I told them I was willing to use my free rookie switch to help the team out if necessary. So if the Bucs really draft my player here, I'll most likely be something other than a linebacker, most likely a defensive tackle. And due to the fact that the Buccaneers were one of the teams who seemed to be most interested in me and my player, I think this is the most likely landing spot for my player.
2.04 (12th overall) select OL Gusztáv Farkas
After addressing their need at cornerback by selecting Sam Coverdale in the first round, their remaining needs include defensive linemen, wide receiver and runningback. And when we look at the previous picks, we can see that almost all of the high earning defensive linemen (negs switched his player to TE) have been picked by one team or another by this point. And in case of wide receivers and runningbacks, the wisest course of action is to wait, as there are a ton of them (9 runningbacks and 11 wide receivers excluding Seer Ial) remaining on the board, and a lot of them are reputable recreates. So I have the Coyotes drafting the best player available, which would be offensive lineman Gusztáv Farkas.
As one of the only 2 offensive linemen remaining on the draft board, Farkas is a max earner who is backed by an amazing user, Raven. Raven, who is also the head of bank in this league, is all around great person to be with, and is very active in both discord and forums. So I thought he would be the best choice for the Coyotes to pick at this spot to bolster the activity level of their locker room. After all, you can't have enough activity in your locker room.
2.05 (13th overall) select CB Adam Journey
Having missed out on defensive line talent - arguably their biggest need as they have literally no one in that position - due to the run for that position earlier on, the Luchadores will be looking to draft other defensive position of need instead. And as secondary is their next biggest positional need in my opinion, I have them drafting cornerback Adam Journey - one of the top recreate cornerbacks - with this pick. Journey is a max earning cornerback backed by a user who is very active in discord and have history of successful players in the ISFL. WFM, Journey's user, is one of the most discord active recreates in this class, and will be a great addition to the Luchadores' locker room.
2.06 (14th overall) select S Leonardo Da Pinchi
If anyone thought "oh it's a GM pick" after seeing this, you're wrong. LtHudz, the user behind Da Pinchi, recently resigned as the GM of the Grey Ducks, and moved on to be the GM for the Honolulu Hahalua in the big league. And while this is not a GM pick, this is still a pick that makes a lot of sense. One of Minnesota's few positional needs include safety, and Da Pinchi is pretty much guaranteed to be a max earning player. And there's the added bonus of reuniting your former GM with the team, retaining the high level of activity he had within the locker room.
2.07 (15th overall) select LB Adolin Collins
In the defensive side of the ball, London's biggest weakness is their linebacker corps, with there being only 1 player above 100TPE. So it makes a lot of sense to have them draft a big name recreate linebacker in Adolin Collins. Collins is a player made by infern8, infern is an updater and the head of the sim team, and he is well liked across the league. So he will be a great veteran presence to have in the locker room, and there is the added bonus of his player, who will most likely be a max earner and currently has 151TPE to his name, being the plug- and- play starter for the Royals.
2.08 (16th overall) selelct CB Harrison Andrews Jr.
With the last pick in my mock draft, I have the Birddogs addressing another big need in their defense, namely the cornerback position. At the moment they have literally no player in the secondary, so this position group is of a great need for them. Fortunately, a lot of good cornerbacks and safeties slid to this position, and I have the Birddogs selecting Harrison Andrews Jr. Among them. Andrews Jr. is a max earner who is backed by a user who is well renowned and had a successful player in the secondary. abh69, Andrews' user, is an updater among many other things, and is another well renowned and liked user in the league. And he was a great guy to talk with from my experiences. So I'm sure he'll be a great fit for Dallas in the last pick of the second round.
Before we start
Before I begin this mock draft, I need to explain some things. First, as I am not in any DSFL war room (or I won't be writing this), I have absolutely no access to insider information. That means I have no idea on crucial information such as willingness to position switch or a user's compatibility to a team.
1.05 (5th overall) select WR Seer Ial

1.06 (6th overall) select OL Big Tractor
Minnesota was another favorite to win the ultimini during last season.
