After the S46 Awards show, it was brought to the attention of HO that New Orleans Second Line had submitted a ballot which violates rule VI.D.11 (Teams may not vote for their own GMs for General Manager of the Year in user award voting.)
Though this is a new rule, GMs were reminded of it prior to ballot submission. NOLA GMs were apologetic and understanding of the situation and acknowledged that they had forgotten it was in place.
As there was no established punishment for a team failing the GMOTY vote included with the recent rule change, we have interpreted it in relation to other vote failure punishments that do have verbiage around their outcomes (or have precedent to show their outcomes). Most of the pre-existing failure to vote violations result in a 2M cap fine for the team - HO decided that it is appropriate to adjust the fine to a 1M cap fine for these violations, as the team has not failed to provide a valid ballot entirely, only an invalid segment. This is being posted as a reflection of newly established precedent as an outcome of this rule violation which can be applied to future cases, and this will also be added to the rulebook entry for the rule. Future cases violating this rule may be handled without a punishment thread.
NOLA will receive 1M cap fine for S48.
