After only four weeks as a Baltimore Hawk, star quarterback Wolfie McDummy Jr. has announced that this will be his only season wearing the black and gold. Preston Beatz, the quarterback who was traded to the Yeti in exchange for McDummy, is expected to be cut at the end of the year to make room for the returning player.
"Realistically, this is the best move for McDummy's career," said the QB's agent, Micycle McCormick. "I really think that expanding his perspective on the world and seeing how different teams in the league operate will help him bring back new and innovative ideas on how to help the Yeti get back on track."
League officials and members of the Hawks organization were immediately up in arms about the announcement, with many denouncing McDummy Jr. as a traitor.
"For him to do something like this to us, I just can't believe it," said fellow former Yeti-turned-Hawk Federico Americano. "Obviously he hasn't talked to any of us about this before releasing this news, and honestly it hurts a lot."
Options for the Hawks became limited after trading away their former MVP for the struggling, yet younger McDummy Jr., but it was clear they sacrificed some long-term building for the all-in approach - which may have made this news sting even harder for the team.
"Loyalty is dead, I guess," said rookie and team captain Maria Teresa de la Rosa. "So much for a dog being man's best friend."
