Hello and welcome back to your S47 DSFL TPE Heatmap & Game Predictions!
In my first article I summarized the TPE each DSFL team had by position, overall, their average, and how they ranked among the other teams and within their conference.
In this article we’ll be going over the Week 1 games, seeing how TPE predicted (or didn’t) the outcomes, update our TPE Heatmap following the weekend updates, and try to predict how next week's games are going to go, purely based on TPE!
So! For our first week, the TPE correctly predicted ¾ games. The only game it missed, was the closest TPE match-up, the Norfolk Seawolves vs the Dallas Birddogs. The Seawolves were able to overcome a mere 37 TPE difference to put a win in their column!
It seems like TPE maybe a good predictor for just whether a team will win, but how about how much a team wins by? In this, it struggled a bit more. While the majority of the rankings stayed the same, London moved down a rank, to be replaced in the 2nd position by Norfolk (NOR moved up from 6th) after winning their game by more points. Portland, who lost their game moved down four ranks from 3rd to 7th, and finally, Tijuana moved up from 7th to 6th.
Within the conference, the North stayed the exact same. The South however moved all around (see table below), with the exception of Tijuana who still remains in 4th among their conference.
With a new week ahead of us, players have been updated, and we have a new shiny TPE Heatmap to show for it!
The Overall TPE standings stayed mostly the same from Preseason, with the exception of those closely matched Norfolk and Dallas teams, swapping ranks. TPE gains among teams varied from a low of 85 (KCC), to a high of 222 (LON). The average TPE gained was 160.75.
Now that we know how the teams look after the update let’s get to this week’s predictions!
And there you have it! I'll be back next week with another update on the heatmap and a look at how our predictions fared!
