Today is the point of no return. The ink on my contract is still drying, but I finally cleared the hurdle of getting approved and picked up by a team. Little do they know, I'm not just here to play. The players themselves are entrenched in their battles for glory, seemingly unaware of the game within the game, but they can't all be innocent...
Anomalies in the league's undervaluation of tight ends has caught my attention. It's a pivotal position for any team, yet here, they're simply an afterthought. It's either a deliberate blind spot or a smokescreen for something larger at play. My best guess at this stage is that it's a plot to keep the true game-changers under the radar, underpaid, and under-utilized.
I've only been here a week but I've already peeled back the first layer of deceit in a league rife with suspicious activities. Today I witnessed the Python's General Manager Bamford tell a new recruit that he didn't know how to help him with his wide reciever training. I pitied the recruit. Then I found out Bamford was, himself, a wide reciever. The corruption is worse than I thought. His ascent to power raises questions. Additionally, I'm unclear of the details, but it seems the Pythons passed on me when I hit waivers. Another red flag. How did this man gain the keys to an entire team? These things are not accidental. Money is exchanging hands. And all money seems to flow to the casino...
This is a marathon, not a sprint. I may have cracked the surface, but it's still a few weeks to the draft. And the draft is the doorway to the league's shady underbelly. As I prepare for the coming days I can't help but ruminate on the biggest questions. Like who is behind all this, and why? The tight ends may be the key, an overlooked piece in a puzzle that I intend to complete. I will report back when I know more.
