Hey everyone, just wrapped up the first regular season of the DSFL and Noah Goodson is out golfing as Portland missed the playoffs.
It was a frustrating season. After going 1st overall in the DSFL draft, I was really hyped about Portland starting the season off and making our way to the playoffs. We finished 5-9, tied for last with Tijuana. Goodson did well, third in tackles with 111. I'm not discouraged based on Portland's performance. If I'm back next season, I'm sure we'll improve and do better.
Anyways, I'd appreciate some questions, not in the playoffs so I might as well put some work in here with you journalists.

:interview: Any NSFL teams that catch your eye?
Everyone wants win, right? So, I'd like to go to one of Baltimore, Philadelphia, Arizona, or Orange County. I don't have a team that I'm dying to play for, which is good for the team that drafts me. I'm not going to skip out of town the instant I'm a free agent. I also won't be upset if I end up on a team with a losing record. I'm very fortunate and blessed to play at this level and in the end, I will be happy to go to any franchise that's warm and welcoming.
:interview: What sets you apart from other linebackers? Do you model yourself after any players?
I'm more of a coverage linebacker, and I think that sets me apart from most of them. It seems like most of the other linebackers are more balanced, so they're not out there moving as fast as I am. I think this will translate into me being a unique LB, one that stands out among my peers. Growing up in Carolina, I looked up to guys like Davis and Kuechly, and I've been compared to Davis more often.

:interview: Do you find yourself leaning towards wanting to play on a team still building a foundation, one somewhere in the middle, a currently very strong team, or is it unimportant?
It's not all that important, I'll take what I get. Best case scenario, the team doesn't rely on me to be the man on defense right away, I'm fine stepping into that role, but it means I'll be on a less deep team. I want to win, so being on a deep team would be awesome. Being apart of a team's foundation would be awesome as well, I'd like to be a cornerpiece of a team's identity, get on their Mt. Rushmore.
:interview: Are there any particular players you're looking forward to lining up against or alongside?
Who has the best offense? Line me up against that squad, and watch how I play against them. I have no favorites in the NSFL, I'm so focused on what I'm doing in DSFL right now, that I can't keep track and focus on the NSFL. Once I'm called up, I'll study a lot of tape and learn the offenses better.

:interview: A lot of the hype around Noah Goodson is surrounding his family pedigree. How do you plan on escaping the shadow of your relatives that play professional hockey to make an impact here in the NSFL?
My family moved south when I was younger, and it's hard to play ice hockey in North Carolina competitively. That's when I transitioned to the gridiron. I played in peewee and then middle school, and I absolutely loved the team bonding and camaraderie. I liked feeling apart of a fraternal group of the boys with all my friends, and since I was going to be involved in this group sport, I trained my hardest to excel at it. I don't want to half-ass anything, so I put forth 110% in the gym and at the practices. I was waking up at 5 AM in middle school for "Breakfast of Champions" where I'd go to the high school and workout with them. I'm making a name for myself in the football world.
:interview: Where do you think you'll be drafted this season?
Early. Not sure that I'm a top-5 pick, but I don't expect to fall out of the first round. I went first in the DSFL draft because management believed in my ability to continually improve. They knew what they were getting and were happy with my on the field talent. I think NSFL GM's will be thinking like my DSFL ones were. There have a lot of rumors and interest about myself, so it seems that I'll be going sometime in the 1st at least. If I fall out of the 1st for whatever reason, I don't think it'll go any farther than that, just looking at the competition, there's not a very deep pool of draft prospects. But that's okay, it's quality over quantity, right?
:interview: Where do you think you SHOULD be drafted? Why?
1st of course. I have the hunger to be the best linebacker, the best player period. We'll see how the draft goes, and if I'm not 1st, that's totally fine. I have to earn everything, I don't feel entitled to anything. Goodson is going to be a talked about player for a good part of the future. I don't want to sound too cocky by saying I should go 1st overall, but I mean, if you ask a person where they should go, they'll say 1st, if they have confidence.

:interview: Any nerves about the draft?
There are some things to be nervous about. Nothing is certain until the end of the night when you're on the team and heading for training camp. I will be happy with any of the teams that draft me. NSFL is fortunate enough to have quality teams from top to bottom, and I'm excited to join one.
:interview: What's the biggest draw to a team?
The locker room, for sure. I haven't heard of any problems in any of the NSFL locker rooms, so that's a plus. I'm always big on finding a team and gelling with them. I love when the bond of a team is strong and you build off of everyone's energy. In the past, a core of active players that enjoy each other really goes a long ways and ensures a dominant run.
