If Kurt Hendrix played in an older era of football, he would dominate even harder than he currently does. Players of older generations aren't as big, strong, athletic, or skilled as the modern day players are. Over the years the natural progression of football has weeded out small, weak, unathletic, and unskilled players. Imagine a 6'2" 250 pound offensive linemen trying to block the athletic 300 pound Hendrix. He would be on top of the quarter back before he finished his three step drop. In all sports there is always those debate how modern Team X would fair against older Team Y, the correct answer is always the same, the modern era team would smash the older era team. The undefeated '72 Dolphins would get dominated by most of the DSFL and NFL's teams. Sure, those old time players might be tougher by playing their careers with antiquated helmets and pads, and having less rules, but they wouldn't be able to keep up with the skill and athleticism of modern players. Kurt Hendrix, a 300lb DE, would be more athletic than probably every offensive player on the field with him. It would be a complete mismatch, and end with plenty of pain and suffering for the old schoolers. (208)
In olden times, Ricardo Sandoval would be... dead. Probably. I don't think they very well took to the coloreds playing with the good ole boys back then. I think in the olden days of football, Sandoval would DOMINATE... in the "Brownie Football League for Mexicans and Lightskins" Mostly because he'd be able to play OL as well as DL because of a lack of white peop- sorry. Good ole boys.
But no, in all seriousness, in the olden days of football with the main deciding factor being who was more aggressive and stronger and willing to get their brains beat in, Sandoval would be an absolute beast. With strength that would be around probably 90 if there were a numerical way to measure strength (just a guess), Sandoval would be out there doing his shit with the best of them. One of those guys that your grandfather would say, "Now there was a guy that had gusto. Not like you, taking one hit and crying like a pussy. Now get up and go heads up nose tackle on Uncle Jeff one more fucking time you big crybaby." Just a summation on what he might say.
Sandoval would also be now featured on r/OldSchoolCool
William Ridley would have loved to have played in the era of the non-receiving Tight End. It’s no surprise to people that Ridley’s weakest quality is consistent coverage, and therefore a receiving Tight End is one of the biggest threats to Ridley, if we travelled back in time to the 70s, 80s, and 90s, before the vertical threat tight end took over the NFL Ridley would have been at home laying hits on running backs and any receiver who thought themselves a star running across the middle.
Maybe it’s the time he’s spent with his new Nordic teammates, but Ridley’s idea of Valhalla is getting down into the trenches and fighting through blockers into the backfield. As much as he likes a clear shot to the quarterback, there is something that just feels right about contact at the line. With this in a mind, a close second would have been the early days of football, before the advent of the forward pass. Ridley would have loved getting muddy and going toe to toe with an opposite number as a running back attempts to push his way downfield. Power versus power, strength versus strength, this would be the best time to be playing football for Ridley, and would play into his strengths.
