Code: 243 words It wasn’t to anyone’s surprise to see Alexandre LeClair be on the cover for the first issue of the season of “Nevada Sports”. The magazine has a long-standing tradition of having the most outstanding athlete in the state be the front cover for the first issue of the season. It just so turns out that both the NSFL pre-season and the season’s first issue are around the same time, ensuring that a Legion player is more likely to get on the cover than any other franchise operating in Nevada. Looking at LeClair’s statistics last season, where he ran 1168 yards for 7 touchdowns on what was arguably the worst team to have ever graced the NSFL fields. This had him in contention for Breakout Player of the Year in the league. On top of that LeClair signed a 3 year contract with the Legion. If there was a “Captain” position like in other team sports we have very little doubt that LeClair would be sporting it on his uniform. Other solid performers that were considered included Ardie Savea, the team’s running back and Connor Tanner, who’s performance in his rookie season had him nominated for positional awards. It is true that they could’ve gone with any new signature on the cover but ultimately the board of editors of “Nevada Sports” decided on having a returning player there as a reference for fans while they get adjusted to the new faces of their franchise. Photographer: "Right this way Mr. Taylor"
Cameron Taylor walked in to do his first cover shoot. It was even a well known magazine, RedZone, a pretty popular magazine among NSFL followers. It was even more peculiar since Cameron Taylor was not a well known name. People barely knew who he was when he was selected in the 4th round.... of the DSFL draft. But a photo shoot meant some cash in his pocket and some exposure in a very popular magazine, all things that could help his NSFL draft stock. Photographer: "Alright, just slip on this jersey." Cameron Taylor: "Wait, this isn't even my number." Photographer: "We were told you wear 36." Must have been some kind of mix up, bad agents are like that, so Taylor continues in the wrong jersey. Taylor has tried to portray himself as a strong, quiet, menacing, hard hitting safety in the DSFL. This photographer only had him carrying the ball and doing the classic Heisman Trophy pose. Taylor was very fortunate for this opportunity so he kept his mouth shut and did all of his stupid ball carrying moves. Eventually, the photographer seemed satisfied, though he was very tired of giving instructions on how to properly carry the football. Photographer: "Alright Owen, you can take off your gear and go see the receptionist to arrange your pay, it's not every day we get a superstar in for a shoot." Cameron Taylor: "Owen?" Photographer: "Yes... You're Owen Taylor, running back for the Hawks, aren't you?" Cameron Taylor: "Well... yes I am. You don't mind if I make the payment out to my very, very distant cousin Cameron, do you?" Words: 267 @manicmav36 don't bust me for fraud.

Announced just 2 days ago, College Football ‘18, Electronic Art’s latest foray into the college football video game scene, looks to be impressive with it’s updated Frostbite graphics. We’ve recently gotten a hold of a transcript between EA and cover athlete Brandon Carter.
Brandon Carter: “Hello, this is Brandon Carter speaking.” EA Rep: “ Hello son, this is Doug Richardson with EA Games. We want you to be the cover athlete of our new game, College Football ‘19. That’s right, you heard it first, we’re making a new college football game next year.” Carter: “ Whoa, I’ve loved those games since I was a little kid playing on the Playstation 2! What would you need from me?” EA: “We’ll need permission to use your picture on the cover. We’ll also need you to come shoot a photo with the crew in Florida. You’ll be compensated of course, but the sooner the better. We’ll put the contract in the mail in the next few days. You’ll need to look that over and tell us if you want to move forward with this opportunity.” Carter: “ I’m excited! I can’t wait to look over the paperwork with my family. Thank you for this opportunity!” EA: “ I’m glad to hear that you’re so excited for this project, and I’m sure the crew will be excited as well. Don’t forget to keep your eyes on that mailbox! Any questions before I go?” Carter: “ No sir, I just want you to know that I’ll be expecting a 99 overall ultimate team card!” EA: “ Haha, alright. We’ll keep in touch.”
As I'm sure you have all heard, Clifford Rove was recently chosen to be the cover athlete for this month's TV Guide. He is on the cover because of his upcoming cameos in both Law & Order, and the Law & Order spin off show Curb Your Enthusiasm. Rove said that getting chosen to be on the cover was really out of the blue, with his agent calling him and asking if he had time to do the shoot. Rove of course said yes, TV guide is in his top 20 magazines, so it was an offer he couldn't refuse. The shoot was pretty simple, they had Rove go down to the DMV, and then ushered him into a back office, AKA TV Guide headquarters. There they took one photo of him sitting down, one standing up, and one throwing a football. The man running the shoot said "That's enough", and sent Rove home. It wasn't quite the experience that Rove thought it would be, but it was memorable nonetheless. When asked how he felt about being on the cover, Rove reported that reading the magazine was a guilty pleasure of his, and being on the cover was a "dream".

Printed and released just yesterday, The University of Arizona Daily Star featured former collegiate hero Allen Davis on the front page of their newest issue. Davis was a hero for the Wildcats when he played for them in college and it is only fitting that the most successful NSFL player to come from the school should be featured on the 50th anniversary edition copy of the magazine. The magazine goes over all of the greatest moments in football history over the last 50 years of coverage. They brought in Allen Davis to not only do the photoshoot for the front page, they also got an interview on his famous 97 yard return pick 6 against the Sun Devils that won the game and sent the teamto the Fiesta Bowl. When Davis was contacted by members of the Daily Star he couldn't turn them down. Davis knows how beloved he is to the state of Arizona, after all he has spent his entire career playing football in the desert. It was no surprise then, that the issue was one of their top selling of all time as both Wildcat and Outlaws fans snatched up their own copies.Davis even had a signing event where lucky fans could go and get their issue signed.

The selection for NSFL 2K4 was an arduous one. Firstly an individual from each NSFL team was voted by each respective team fan bases which lead to a shortlist of 8 players. The following representatives were Dermott Lavelle from the wraiths, Tyler Oles from the Liberty, Avon Blocksdale from the Hawks and Brice Boggs from the Colorado Yeti.
Representing the ASFC was King Bronko of the Outlaws, Ardie Savea of the Legion, Angus Winchester of the Otters and finally Vincent Sharpei of the San Jose Sabercats. A mass voting ensued which led to a final 4 players being shortlisted. Lavelle, Savea, Boggs and King Bronko made the final cut. A final vote was held beginning on the day of the official game trailer release to build hype. Approximately two weeks later, the cover athlete was announced. It was the season 2 #1 pick Dermott Lavelle who would grace the cover of NSFL 2K4. The cover design has not yet been announced so it's unclear which jersey Lavelle will be wearing and who the co-athletes will be on the cover. Regardless of the overall design of the cover, It's likely that this will lead to a significant increase in Lavelle's jersey sales. Who knows exactly what will happen for next years cover of NSFL 2K5?
After being chosen as the feature athlete from West Virginia University to appear on the cover of the Daily Athenaeum’s annual sports circular, I received calls of congratulations from so many friends and family. For everyone back in my home away from home, Morgantown, it was a thrill to see someone they knew being featured so prominently in a local publication. It was one of the few times that a current football or basketball player wasn’t the cover athlete (and I feel a little bad about that. Sorry, current Mountaineers!), and an alumnus was chosen instead.
I received a letter from the editor-in-chief of the DA asking if I’d be interested in appearing, and of course I said yes. I had read that paper all through my five years in college, and I have friends who have worked on the staff since the day they graduated. The letter said that after much deliberation, they had decided they couldn’t ignore the highest-ever draft pick in professional football (NSFL or NFL) to come out of WVU. They said that it was an honor to include me on the cover and that people would be elated to find out about my success, if they hadn’t already heard. As you can imagine, I was overjoyed to receive the invitation to be the cover athlete, and I said yes immediately. Word count: 227
Kurt Hendrix has been selected to be on the cover of GTA VI. If you are familiar with the game you would know the covers represent several different scenes of characters doing all kinds of activities. Kurt could well represent the GTA franchise. He has mansions, yachts, exotic cars, motor cycles, a helicopter, private jet, an assortment of guns, and a bunch of women down at his LA residence during the off season. Kurt also has the look of a GTA character. He is a big, jacked, scary looking guy with all kinds of tattoos. His past has also included some jail time and gang affiliations, so the GTA developers saw him as a natural fit. The GTA video game developers had always wanted to bring a famous person into the game, Kurt's star status as an athlete and bad ass off the field caught their eye. It did not come cheap though. Rumors say Kurt was paid in excess of ten million dollars for his face to be on the video game cover. It is also worth noting his real name will not be used in the game. This game is set to released some time in 2018, make sure to pre order your copy today. (207)
