NICHOLAS PIERNO RELEASES STATEMENT
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Nicholas Pierno met with his representation team at Roc Nation to discuss his future with the Colorado Yeti. The Colorado Yeti recently appointed a new starting quarterback to run its offense. Pierno and his team issued a joint statement:
ON THE YETI CHOOSING A NEW QUARTERBACK
“Honestly, I’m pretty shocked. I know it hasn’t always been pretty, but we’re a rebuilding team. When the elite quarterbacks of the league from S1 start to regress, I’ll be the guy that’s taking over the league. I put in the work and I’ve shown that I will week in and week out, but still the team has decided to go in another direction. I do respect that decision; however, I’m disappointed in how things were communicated by the Colorado front office. I was approached to say they were considering a switch days before it happened, and I asked to be kept updated. Obviously, that didn’t happen. Nothing like finding out the news that you’re no longer wanted on a roster than from Twitter and third-party sources. I contacted the Yeti front office to receive confirmation, and to this point, which is technically a day after the switch, I’ve heard nothing. I respect their decision, but not how it was executed.”
ON HIS FUTURE
“The Yeti, whose front office I do like as people, are really going to have to convince me to want to remain with the organization. I understand that no matter what happens, I’ll probably end up spending time in the DSFL and that’s something I’m OK with; however, I want a team that can treat me like a professional to have my rights when it’s time to release me back into the NSFL. At this current point in time, I’d like to have another team acquire my rights. This could change, but that’s where I currently stand.”
ON WHERE HIS CONFIDENCE STANDS
“I still believe I’m going to become the best quarterback in the NSFL one day. This hasn’t effected my work ethic, known to be amongst the highest in the league, at all. One day, I will be the quarterback that possibly stands in the Yeti’s way of a championship.”
ON WHY HE SHOULD BE ACQUIRED
“I can make things happen. I bust my ass as hard as any player in the league and I provide a brand new dynamic to an offense as arguably the most mobile quarterback in NSFL history (and still improving). I’m a great fit for the locker room, and the kind of guy you want as a leader despite my youth. I wasn’t always put in a situation to succeed in Colorado, like when I was made to throw 53 teams in the season opener despite being a sophomore season player. Help me help you. Also, if you’re looking to mix things up, I can be a great fit as a wildcat quarterback that can break a game open with homerun plays in the running game while still keeping the defense on its toes with my ability to pass the ball, too.”
ON LIKELY RETURN TO KANSAS CITY
“I had a great time during my brief stint with Kansas City during the preseason of my rookie year. It was a healthy locker room that encouraged success. If I return to the Coyotes, I’m sure we’ll do great things together. Also, I can’t wait to be somewhere with BBQ again if that’s what happens.”
