Interview with Mat Akselsen (@Bzerkap)
What is it like to finally win a playoff game?
It's really great to finally win a playoff game. I've been waiting four seasons for this day, and it comes in a rebuilding year no less. Maybe the low expectations allowed us all to cut loose and stop trying to live up to expectations. I don't really know, but I know it's the best feeling I've had on this site in a long time. I worked so hard, staying up late doing stupid test sims that don't matter sometimes, it just kind of feels like validation.
This was supposed to be a rebuilding year, how did you do so well?
I really don't know how we did so well. It's truly a mystery. We lost Garden, Aenir and Cushing, Kris has gone inactive, Archon disappeared, dangles has gone inactive, but we still have a great core of guys who try their hardest. We brought in Jarden and Ridley to round out our squad. I really think it was just a team effort with the actives we have on the team. Everyone has been really supportive and we have at least one key active at every area of the team. So I guess it was some sim luck, some hard work gaining TPE, some fun times in the LR, and a lot of karma lol. We finally got some luck our way with seasons of being super high TPE but disappointing results.
Would you rather have faced the outlaws instead of the otters?
To be honest I would have rather faced the Outlaws. I don't know why, but Boss just plain scares me as an opposing QB. He is truly the best passer in the league and he's got two top flight receivers. I also think the Otters were the stronger team overall this season, but sim luck screwed them a bit. It would be a tough matchup any way, but I would have rather faced the Outlaws.
Are you looking to make any trades?
We'll find out. It all depends on who is on the trade block, and who we think we want.
Sit down with a fan.
