Have you ever wondered to yourself, "Man I sure do love the Season 1 draft class, which was clearly the best draft class there ever was and whom I hope everyone is still active and around from".
Well to the people who have wondered that I have this to say to you!
Hi it's me Raven. You might know me from such league activities as being the best global mod the site has ever seen, until they coldblooded ripped that role away from little ol' me. You might also know me from my S1 article series named 'kicker weekly' or from anime gifs. If you don't know me that's alright aswell. I don't mind, because writing about you lot is giving me more words to talk about and more words to talk about mean more money to be earned.
Anyways enough about me, let's talk buisness. The S1 draft class, the draft class that started the league. This was a legendary draft that had like 23 fuckin rounds with a total of 138 prospects joining the league. Of these 138 prospects about 9 of them were either a kicker or a punter.
I`m going to have a looksie at all the teams and see which S1 KICKERS are still around to this day. Who is active, who is not. Y`all ready? Lets gooooo!
List of kickers/punters in S1 draft:
Turk Turkleton - Raven
Bojo Kicksit - Bojo
Brandon Walsh - Copenhagen
Stephen Harris - WinstonKodogo
Jimmy Darkapple - TheAliensAreCumming
Archibald Booter - PoloPro
Ryan Ellis - CampinKiller
Kentillan Laces - tootboots12
Adrienne Nugent - galatix
ARIZONA OUTLAWS
With their 90th overall pick, the outlaws ended up drafting Adrienne Nugent. An accurate kicker from down town New Jersey. Nugent played 16 games with the Outlaws in season 1 and had a solid year on the extra point aspect of the game. Kicking with a record of 30/31, they were one of the best extra point scorers in this season. In season 2 Nugent played 6 games with the San Jose Sabercats in with they set a 6/7 xp record and went 6/9 on the field goals. After season 2 Nugent went on to play in the DSFL with the Pythons. Nugent was never active, having a grand total of 50 tpe, but they atleast still have a place to play in Portland.
BALTIMORE HAWKS
The Hawks drafted two kickers in the S1 inaugural draft, Turk Turkleton and Stephen Harris.
Turkleton was drafted with the 77th overall pick and has played the starting kicker role since the day he was drafted and took up the role of punter in S2 aswell. Currently the leading kicker in TPE in the NSFL. Active and locked down with the Hawks until the end of S5 as of right now.
Stephan Harris got picked up with the 92th overall pick. Harris ended up filling the punter position for his first season in the NSFL. In s2 he played for the Philadelphia Liberty and took up the role of starting kicker for the Liberty. Harris had a great season in S2 as he went 25/25 extra points. In S3 he went 35/37 which is a very respectable record and ended up going 21/24 on field goals. A solid preformance from Harris. His record in S4 was 23/24 with extra points and an extremely nice 100% rating on field goals. Going 28 in 28. Becoming the first kicker to ever go 100% on field goals in a season with atleast 2+ kicks. Harris is still active.
COLORADO YETI
At 70th overall the kicker Bojo Kicksit was drafted. With this pick he become the first kicker drafted in NSFL history. A power kicker and a total inactive scrub @Bojo. Kicksit has been playing with the Yeti since S1 and it seems like he`ll be the kicker until someone else steps up for the Yeti. Playing for the Yeti Bojo gets alot of bench sitting time. Kicksit has been a solid kicker always kicking atleast 90% in extra points, besides S3 when he kicked for 85%.
Later in the draft at 82th overall the Yeti also picked up Jimmy Darkapple. A balanced kicker who saw himself doing punting dooty for the Yeti in S1. He was a free agent all throughout S2, but then got picked up to play for the San Antonio Marshals. Kicking solidly for them. Going 27/27 extra points in S3 and a record of 21/28 good for 75% field goals scored. His field goal percentage in S4 was way better, going 26/30 for a record of 86.7%. He is inactive an down in the DSFL.
ORANGE COUNTY OTTERS
84th overall marked the point in the draft that Brandon Walsh got drafted. Walsh is an inactive 50 TPE kicker who has seen everything in his career. He played 8 games as the starting kicker for the Otters in S1 going 15/15 extra points and 16/17 field goals. Showing that tpe for kickers doesnt matter. After 8 games he got bumped aside by Tarkenton who took the rest of the starting kicker dooty in s1. Walsh who also did punting duty then got dropped completely as Ronaldo came in to take over punting duty. Just like Darkapple Walsh ended up just chillin as a free agent in S2. He ended up getting dressed by the Las Vegas Legion in S3 and had a solid showing with 22/23 extra points scored and 13/16 field goal. In S4 kicker Gooney has taking over the kicking and punting situation for the Legion, leaving Walsh as an inactive glorified press box player in Las Vegas.
SAN JOSE SABERCATS
Kentillian Laces is another 50 tpe inactive player. Got drafted 93rd overall by the Kitties where he played for S1 with a 95% extra point rating going 19/20 and 80% field goal rating at 24/30. Laces had 8 games with the cats in S2, before Nugent took over. Laces had gone 17/18 on extra points and 14/18 on field goals. Laces has been a free agent since Nugent took over for him. So 2 seasons and 6 games of free agency.
YELLOWKNIFE WRAITHS
With a very late pick Archibald Booter was selected by the Wraiths 122nd overall. Booter is the first and only kicker from the S1 class to retire. He played three seasons for the Wraiths, before hanging up the cleats. S1 showed a preformance of 22 in 24 extra points scored. 28 in 34 field goals scored. S2 28 in 31 extra points, 28 in 30 field goals and S3 was 31 in 35 extra points and 15 in 21 field goals. Booter has a solid first two season and then S3 came around and was a harsh to him on the field goal side.
UNDRAFTED
Ryan Ellis
Retired since
So of the 9 players from the season 1 inaugural draft we have the following standings:
Active:
Stephan Harris
Turk Turkleton
Inactive in the NSFL:
Bojo Kicksit
Brandon Walsh
Inactive in the DSFL:
Jimmy Darkapple
Adrienne Nugent
Inactive FA:
Kentillian Laces
Retired:
Ryan Ellis
Archibald Booter
From this we can tell that time has not been nice to the S1 kickers. With 2/9 being retired, 1/9 having been in free agency for a while, 4/9 being inactive, but still playing and only 2/9 being active and playing in the NSFL.
Ironicly both of them drafted by the Hawks.
That is all. Goodbye
