The rookie I'm most excited to follow this season is kicker-slash-punter Dean Jackson. This is a guy who really puts the 'foot' in football, man. Wow. Taking a special teams player in the top 5 picks is a really ballsy move, which adds that much more intrigue to Jackson's rookie season. To be honest, the fans might really hate this guy by the end of the season. If I had to grade his intelligence on a 100-point scale, I'd probably give him a 62. But so what if he's dumb as a sack of bricks? This guy can kick the heck out of a football and, lucky for him, that's what Arizona will be asking him to do. How can we justify Jackson's draft position, though? Well for starters you kill two birds with one stone as Dean fills in at both kicker and punter. Jackson might kill two birds with a football with how hard he kicks it. Another worthwhile note is that the battle for field position is how weak coaches justify making poor decisions on 4th down. Jackson will really save the coaches butt when he decides to kick a field goal when it's 4th and one inside the 20, or when he decides to punt inside enemy territory on 4th and short. So there you have it. I'm looking forward to seeing how this guy lives up to his already impressive billing.
