We had a very interesting week 3 and 4. Here's how I think the DSFL stacks up right now.
1. (+1) San Antonio Marshals (4-0)
This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, I underestimated them coming into week 3, placing them beneath the Luchadores. After being down in the 4th quarter they put up 16 unanswered points to get the victory. San Antonio is a very dangerous team right now and anyone and everyone should be damn well prepared to face them. With a resounding victory over the former #1 ranked team there isn't much to say except well done. Just kidding I got a word count to make. San Antonio orchestrated their run game through the strength of their running game. Willy Nyquist continues to dominate as he racks up a total 341 yards. Perhaps it is not all Nyquist however as his backup Carter Bush is currently in 3rd total rushing yards at 249. San Antonio had a much higher 3rd down efficiency than TIJ largely due to their strength on the ground. It doesn't look like anyone is able to stop them as by the time the 4th has rolled around defenses are gassed due to smash mouth football.
2. (+4) Portland Pythons (2-2)
Ah I knew we weren't just some 0-2 team. The Pythons have shot up the power rankings after shattering the Tijuana Luchadores dreams in Portland and having debatably the best air attack in the league. Dwayne Aaron has the most well rounded stats in the league (again), not including bots he is #2 in catches, #1 in yards, and tied for #2 in receiving touchdowns. With Blessed Storm and Glenn McPoyal to help bolster the receiving game, they look scary good. On defense they have Bobby Ruckus and Egan Winter to play the secondary, and Norman 'The Bull' Bagwell anchoring the line. The main reason that I put Portland ahead of the other strong teams in the league is because they went on the road and won, something only San Antonio has done. Every other team has only won at home.
3. (-2) Tijuana Luchadores (2-2)
Tijuana may have dropped 2 games this these past weeks, and both of them are ahead of Tijuana now, but that doesn't make them any less intimidating. Although their defense faltered a bit against San Antonio, I wouldn't be surprised if SA rolled through every defense like that this year. The loss against Portland was tough, but was in Portland so we are yet to see which is truly the better team. Antonio Legion is a player that many are underestimating, he has the 2nd most receiving yards, and 4th most catches (not including bots). Legion is a valuable weapon in the Tijuana offense and I would rate him the 2nd best Wide Receiver right now.
4. (+1) Kansas City Coyotes (2-2)
They're still in KC because no one like Chicago just so everyone knows.. anyway the Coyotes have done well for themselves, they moved up from #5 and won another game this week. However there really isn't a lot of eye openers on the KC roster. Borkus Maximus does not look as good as Roenick, or Asipi Jr. Their defense is not as good as TIJ and overall they just aren't an electric team. They'll have to prove themselves if they want to move up the food chain.
5. (-1) Norfolk Seawolves (2-2)
Not a big surprise to put Norfolk here, they aren't super impressive and haven't done too much. It's a bot team so not much to expect. But at least they aren't palm beach.
6. (-3) Palm Beach Solar Bears (0-4)
It's hard to say if the Solar Bears season is over. Their record is as bad as the Yeti, but they've been playing the top 3 teams in the league. Perhaps Palm Beach can surprise me. They still have receivers at the top of the stat board, so maybe we'll see an improvement soon but I doubt it.
