New Orleans Second Line Cornerback Terrell Brister is very happy with his teams draft class. He sat at home watching the draft unfold from his new couch in his new house in New Orleans.
“In 10 years when we look back at all time great defenses, the Second Line team that is in the making will come up. I’ll give it 3 more seasons before we have an all time great defense.”
Brister seems very confident in his abilities after taking home the NSFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award (Along with Ryan Sierra), and he wants #1 overall pick Brian Mills to be just as confident.
“I told our GM’s that Mills was the best player in this draft months ago. I’m glad they agreed and took him at 1. I just hope he agrees. Him and I will definitely be in contact.”
Brister also likes the way his team approached the offensive side of the draft, but he would prefer if they had got him another corner in the high rounds to play across from.
“I think we wanted Benson Bayley in free agency but sadly he re-signed with San Jose. Oh well, maybe next time. But I would like us to pick up another top tier corner prospect for me to mentor, and play with. Me and Oakes can’t do it all in the secondary!”
When I asked if he was the leader of the defense he had this to say.
“I try to be a leader of the defense. But to be honest, Stone and Oakes are the leader or our defense. Now I know what you are going to ask, with the rumors of Stone no longer training, will he no longer be a leader? I’m not sure. We’ll find that out soon enough.”
He also talked about the move
“When I found out we were moving I wasn’t surprised. The rumors in our locker room had been going on for months. Miami, Boston, Saskatoon (@timeconsumer). Of course our rumors were all wrong and it was actually New Orleans. I find that funny because our GM is a Panthers fan. I made sure to pitch the name New Orleans 7-9ers to him after we found out where we were going. I also made sure to tell him that it is funny to hear a GM talk about relocation. I’m pretty sure I’m getting cut soon...”
