As part of the ISFL’s pursuit to chronicle the league and keep a record of everything that happens, a wiki has been created. If you did not know about this, basically the league has decided that to best keep track of history we have a wiki where all of it is in one central location that people can easily look through. This includes teams, players, league standings, and even scandals that have happened throughout the league. While most of the historians/wiki team will keep track of the other stuff, this special PT is specifically focused on recording players. This PT has been created as a way for the general public to get involved with the wiki by having people create wiki pages for their players.
The first step is to create a wiki account directly on the wiki website.
Next, join our wiki discord server and request edit permissions by posting your wiki username in the wiki_access channel. Once you have a green checkmark, you're cleared to post!
Please use this template to create your player.
IF YOU DO NOT USE THE LINKED TEMPLATE, YOUR PAGE WILL BE REJECTED
When using the above link, please make sure to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY
Many parts of the sheet will automatically fill in other values, but if you ignore the the instructions for these cells, it will produce incorrect content.
Once you create this page you’ll need to put your information on it, background, position, stats and so on. Feel free to use Antoine Delacour's Wiki Page, Blackford Oakes' Wiki Page, or Ryan Applehort's Wiki Page as examples of player pages.
For completing this task, you are able to claim 2M. For example, I wouldn’t be able to create a page for Tyler Oles, link that, and claim it along with one for Kazimir Oles. You can only claim $2M from this per player, and when you create a new player you’ll be able to make and claim for your new player.
What you need for approval
- YOU MUST USE THE TEMPLATE. NOT USING THE TEMPLATE WILL RESULT IN ZERO MONEY. 0. NOTHING. NIC. IKKE NOGET. RIEN. NADA. NOTHING. NO EXCUSES.
There are no strict guidelines for what a wiki page must include but the wiki team has developed some unofficial standards from approving and denying pages over the last year. Things that will help:
-A few solid paragraphs split between your various sections (for new players that'll be Introduction, Early Years, and College Career). A good example of the length we're looking for can be found on Corvo Havran's wiki.
-An infobox that's filled out. When you first start you won't have information for all the different fields but the more fields there that you can fill in, the better the page looks.
-Pictures. Having a picture in your Infobox makes the page look a lot more complete and embedding images in the body of your page can help make up for word length.
-Tables. Likewise, if you don't want to type out 2 paragraphs describing your college stats you can pair an overview paragraph with a stats table and it'll help make your page look more complete.
-Stealing from real wiki pages. Obviously don't blatantly plagiarize but adding things like, for example, a scouting table or other things from real athletes' wiki pages and then adapting them to your character/player is a great way to make your page look more complete and stand out a bit if you don't want to just vomit out a ton of words.
If you run into any trouble or just want to ask questions, come on by the wiki discord and chat with myself or any member of wiki staff. Thanks for helping us contribute to the growing history of the ISFL!
