I need money and this seems to be the best way to go about doing that. Someone mentioned they wanted some DSFL awards or something in the Rookies of the Year post I made last week so yeah. I'm not going to do every single award, mainly just the positional ones, but I am going to present a few players for each and then give my completely worthless opinion on who deserved it more. Before we get into it I have to thank my sponsors since I didn't do it last time and my producer chewed me out. Big thanks to Pisswater Lite Beer "always bad, always available" and Thicc AF Glasses "the refs may be blind, you don't have to be".
[div align=\\\"center\\\"]RB OF THE YEAR
Marquise Brown
The driving force behind the San Antonio Marshals offense, Touchdown Brown, in his 2nd DSFL season showed why he went 3rd overall to the Liberty in last year's draft. Racking up 1665 yards rushing, easily the most in the league, on 331 attempts and finding paydirt 13 times. He also was an okay threat out of the backfield through the air as he caught 13 passes for 92 yards.
Danny Grithead
Another pure rookie who had himself a great season. Danny Grithead took the majority of the carries for the Kansas City offense and did a great job with his chances. He had the 4th most rushing yards of anyone this season with 1128 on 231 attempts while scoring 8 times in his rookie campaign. Unlike Poopsie and Brown though, he was a much bigger threat in the catching game as he had 35 receptions for 290 yards with 2 touchdowns.
D'Pez Poopsie
What a season for this DSFL rookie. He split carries with 9th overall pick Elijah Lagerfield out of the Portland backfield and still managed to rack up a tremendous stat line. On just 205 touches he ran for 1163 yards, by far the best efficiency of anyone with more than 200 attempts, scored 11 times on the ground, as well as making 23 catches for 191 yards.
Honorable mentions:
Ricky Adams
Elijah Lagerfield
VERDICT: Really tough choice here as there was a ton of competition since the DSFL is clearly still a rushing league. No offense to my boy TDB, he had an incredible year obviously, but I'd have to give this one to D'Pez Poopsie. Even splitting carries with last years award winner he managed to put up some superb numbers. I wouldn't be surprised to see this award get tied votes though.
QB OF THE YEAR
Joliet L. Christ
Dual-threat quarterback Joliet Christ had himself a big year in S9. Spearheading the Pythons passing game he threw 457 times for 2741 yards on a 56.9 completion percentage, the most yards for a non-bot QB, 12 touchdowns, and a QB rating of 72.3. I'd be remiss to exclude rushing yards of a mobile QB, he had 233 on 56 attempts while scoring 3 times.
Adriana Falconi
Falconi had herself an amazing first full season in the DSFL with Tijuana. Like Poopsie, she was splitting time with an NSFL draftee in Andreas Metaxas but still managed to put up incredible numbers. She had 1979 passing yards on 270 throws with a 63.3 completion percentage, best in the league, 19 touchdowns, also league best, and a QBR of 93.4, again the best in the DSFL.
Gus T.T. Showbiz
One of the best QBs in the DSFL last season, Showbiz returned to Kansas City and did it all over again. He threw for 2527 yards in the air, completing 63% of his passes, 13 touchdowns and a fantastic QBR of 86.2, 2nd best in the league.
Honorable Mentions:
Buzz Swaggerty (wtf!?)
VERDICT: Another tough competition here but I think that it's going to be Falconi going home with the silverware. She may have been splitting time but she still managed to lead the league in plenty of key stats. (Please don't hate me Andrew lol)
WR OF THE YEAR
Xavier Flash
Last years 1st overall pick returned to Tijuana and lit the league and those poor cornerbacks on fire earning the DSFL WR Triple Crown as he led the league in catches, yards, and touchdowns with 96, 1361, and 13 respectively.
Felix Hasselhoff
This German had himself a great rookie DSFL campaign and really pushed his way up NSFL team's draft boards after falling very far in the DSFL draft. He had the 2nd most receiving yards with 1069 on 81 catches with 4 touchdowns.
Kazimir Oles
A player people think will be going 1st overall in the upcoming NSFL draft, Oles had a solid season in Kansas City. He may not have had as many targets as the other 3 but he worked with what he was given as he put up a stat line of 53 receptions, 759 yards, and 8 touchdowns. A great threat to score as those 8 touchdowns were 2nd best in the league.
Vinny Valentine
The main target for Showbiz was 2nd-year wideout Vinny Valentine, returning to the DSFL after being selected by the Hawks. He collected 68 receptions for the 3rd most yards in the league at 1019, in addition to being the most efficient at 15 yards per catch, including making the longest catch of anybody all season at 45 yards, and finding the goal line 3 times for his team.
VERDICT: No doubter here for Xavier Flash. Like I said above he won the WR Triple Crown, the 1st time that's been done in the DSFL ever.
TE OF THE YEAR
Declan Harp
Last year's Tightest End winner returned to Kansas City for another year and did a great job. He had 43 catches for 344 yards, 1 touchdown, and 27 pancakes. He led all TE in yards, pancakes and was the most efficient in terms of yards per catch.
Emilia Rudd
Marshals rookie Emilia Rudd had herself a great rookie year in San Antonio. She gathered up a stat line of 45 catches, 336 yards, 1 touchdown, and 15 sacks. Great numbers compared to the others in her position.
VERDICT: Declan Harp has got to take this award home again. Rudd had a great season but she was overshadowed by Harp by just enough.
DB OF THE YEAR
Lucari Felix
An absolutely incredible season for the Portland cornerback. For a position that they say gets no stats, he sure put up a good line. He got himself 75 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 16 defended passes, and, along with Marshals' cornerback Danny Vranos, he broke the DSFL interceptions record with 8, taking 3 back for defensive scores.
Thad Pennington
Now a 2-time Ultimini winner, Thad Pennington has been leading this Luchadores defense for a while now and he leads by example. Out of the free safety position, Pennington racked up 78 tackles, forced 2 fumbles, got to the QB once, defended 9 passes, and picked off 6 balls.
Xandra Troyski
Another Luchadores defensive back that had a great year. In her rookie DSFL season she put up a line of 62 tackles, 1 forced and 1 recovered fumble, 5 interceptions, and 10 passes defended. A nightmare for opposing quarterbacks to deal with both Troyski and Pennington.
Honorable Mentions:
Jake Verden
VERDICT: Lucari Felix has got to be the DB of the Year. Setting the interceptions record while just being an all-around threat should put him over the top.
LB OF THE YEAR
Jesse Marchand
Another big year for Marshals' linebacker Jesse Marchand. He led the league in tackles with 130, 5 for a loss, forced a fumble, sacked the QB 5 times, took 1 of his 3 interceptions back for a touchdown, and defended 7 passes.
Kolby Deringer
Deringer as well had himself another great season in his return to the DSFL. After being selected 4th overall by the Sabercats he went back to the Coyotes and solid season: 120 tackles, 2 for a loss, 2 forced and 1 recovered fumble, 1 interception, and 4 pass defenses.
VERDICT: Jesse Marchand was better in every stat so I think he takes this one even though he has gone inactive I think
DL OF THE YEAR
Odell Marrett
Marshals defensive end Odell Marrett made a solid case for the award. 34 tackles, a league-leading 13 tackles for loss, 2 forced and 1 recovered fumble, and 9 sacks on the year.
Lo Rax
Rookie Kansas City defensive end had himself a good season as well. He collected a stat line of 31 tackles, 5 for a loss, and 6 sacks on the season.
Avery Woodham
Tijuana defensive end Avery Woodham did basically the same thing as Marrett. He had a line of 35 tackles, also 13 tackles for loss, 3 forced and 1 recovered fumble, and 8 sacks.
Honorable Mention:
Young Spaghetti ???
VERDICT: Why did the inactive players dominate this position? Marrett and Woodham had like almost identical stat lines so I'd let them share the award.
K OF THE YEAR
RIP Kickers.
Adam Anderson
An active kicker? I'll take it. He hit 95% of his extra points and made 13/15 of his field goals including a bomb of a 53 yarder.
Kick Puncher
Another actual active person? I don't believe it. He only got into 2 games this season as he was a late waiver wire pick up but unlike every other kicker, he made all 4 of his extra point attempts and all 6 field goals.
P OF THE YEAR
RIP Punters too.
VERDICT FOR KICKER AND PUNTER OF THE YEAR: What the hell, where are the active kickers and punters?
[/div]
You could probably tell I started to lose interest near the end there. Where the actives at for the last few positions I did? Anyway, thanks for reading and let me know what you think, or not, I'm not your boss. Give me some cash though, my S10 equipment is expensive, I got to go out and buy some $3 million pads and cleats. As always thank the sponsors again Pisswater Lite Beer and Thicc AF Glasses
