I think giving people auto 5s is the way to go.
If you're concerned with people making garbage implement some sort of warning system, if something doesn't look up to snuff tell the creator the first time, but they still get their 5. The next time bring it to the higher ups and resolve it from there.
I think the bonuses for really good graphics is a great idea. I think an extra bonus should be given for fulfilling the graphics requests of others, that just encourages people to do work for others in the league.
I also think there needs to be something equivalent to the requested articles for writers. Perhaps you could implement a system where a writer and graphics person work together, and create some graphics for some articles, create recap graphics for a game, crate a graphic of all of the teams schedules, rosters, etc. I think there are some good options here.
I think the subjective system used to grade the graphics is frustrating for the people making the graphics, which is going to discourage them. There seems to be a lot of concern for dissuading new people from making graphics, but not a lot of fucks given from discouraging people who are good.
I definitely think the idea that the league's job is to push people to improve is a bit far-fetched. I think most of us are here to sim football, not create a thriving community of graphics creators.
I consider myself a bit of an outsider looking in to this community, and it seems like there is some internet politics at play. If we go to an auto 5 system, where only shit graphics are warned and eventually flagged/reduced in pay, I think it would eliminate these issues.
Additionally, going to an auto 5 system would make the job easier on graders, which would help with your turnover issues, etc. while still having pay close to other positions in the league.
If you need help grading graphics, I'd also be happy to help out. I think a good way to keep this community active is going to be a quick turn around on all activities: grading, updates, sims, PT, etc.
