There should be a bonus for the GFX artist if their design is actually chosen as someone's signature. If you make your own signatures this shouldn't apply. I think we should encourage more of the 'contract/requested' GFX the same way there are requested articles. Plus signatures are badass and I want everyone to have their own unique look. It's one of my favorite aspects of the NSFL, and I know a lot of people enjoy it as well.
If you use that system, demand drives the value and we don't over complicate everything. If you make someone else's work your signature you should give them credit in a thread that gets checked by graders and they can give the bonuses accordingly. If we have a black/white system there will be no room for judgement error as it's literally supply/demand. It may also drive the skill level as artists will be competitive in a sense.
Anything that isn't chosen as a signature can probably just be graded the way it has been to this point. I don't see the logic in trying to keep track of who is progressing or not in their graphic design skills. If someone posts something they didn't create or something that just has no sign of effort, don't give the payout. For the average user here spending ~30 or more minutes on their work they don't necessarily deserve or want to be judged negatively. If they want people to choose their work as their signature they will figure out what people want and put in the time/effort to make it happen, driving their skills. If you just want to do something as a graphic design noob to get some NSFL money and maybe just have a little fun, you should be able to do that. Often times I enjoy low quality stuff just as much or more than average stuff. If someone spends a lot of time and effort intentionally crafting a piece of shit that people enjoy it should also pass the quality check.
