Starting out in the ISFL gives a unique stance on what could be done better, in that, I'm still not familiar enough with the league to know what might benefit from any kind of adjustment. While I would say casting play-by-play would be a fun thing to add. When I initially joined the PBE, one of the biggest draws for me was the live commentary. Getting to hear my name, or my player's name live on air scratched my egotistical itch. HOWEVER. Does the ISFL really lend itself to play-by-play casting? I'm not too sure. From my experiences, it looks like the games go far too quick for any casting to be done in a consistent and accurate way. As a streamer myself for the PBE, I don't think that I would be able to keep up with the fast-paced action of the ISFL's gameplay. It just goes way too fast. So I'll just say a more user-friendly index. I still struggle to use the ISFL index at times.

What if we made traits something that is earned by in season performance instead of something purchasable by TPE? As it stands, every player in the league of a certain archetype could have the same traits. By putting criteria on different traits, you would be highlighting the leagues’ superstars in a new way.
Here are some examples that could represent criteria for some of the traits: Bionic Leg: In order to earn this trait, your player must make a field goal of more than 55 yards during a season. The trait is lost once a season goes by and the longest field goal for the year was less than 55 yards. Receiving TE: In order to earn this trait, your player must be a TE and have more than 75 receptions on the season. The trait is lost once a season is completed with less than 75 receptions. Game Manager: In order to earn this trait, your QB must have the lowest INT% in the ISFL. This trait is lost once your QB throws more than 10 INT during a season. You could keep going and make criteria for each trait. Some traits could be reserved for the top performer in the league while others could be benchmarks that need to be hit each season to keep the trait. I think a reward system based on sim results compared to strict TPE generation could be interesting! DSFL S43 Draft - Round 4 Pick 30

I know I’m very new to the league, and I have no idea of the feasibility of the suggestion that I’m about to make, but I think that a change that would make the league more exciting is having coaches for each team that call the plays. We already have gms, so why not coaches? This idea came to me after watching my team’s (the Norfolk Seawolves) week one game. There were multiple instances where I felt that the play calling of the sim just wasn’t up to snuff. There were multiple 4th and shorts that I felt we could have gone for, but instead we punted. Also, there was at least one set of downs where we ran the ball 3 plays in a row, then punted. If there were actual people calling the plays for the teams, it would add an all new level of interactivity that the league has never seen before. Again, it’s probably impossible for the sim to have someone choose the plays, and it would probably be difficult to choose who the coaches are, but I feel that it would lead to a better product for the viewer.
I have seen it touched upon a bit here but I think only in terms of the QB position but I think I general, position based regression would be a radical and great idea.
Certain positions require a lot of development in the DSFL such as the QB position and in general, as mentioned, QBs usually have longer careers but not all. Maybe a mobile QB regresses sooner or is forced to switch archetypes at regression time. You don't see running QBs running much as they get older. Michael Vick, Russell Wilson, Fran Tarkenton were running less as they aged and ours should too. Running backs should have shorter careers but fullbacks probably having longer with wide receivers being shorters with tight ends being longer. Kickers should have very long careers as well. On the defensive side, secondary players or at least corners don't last as long I believe with linebackers next and defensive linemen lasting longer. Perhaps you can (like I should have) researched average retirement age in NFL or professional football and base it off that. Could even just lower percentages of regression for certain positions as well so you still have some negative movement but at a declined rate for players that last longer in NFL terms or are forced to develop in the DSFL longer. Former players:
QB Joliet Christ Jr. (HON/BER) (1x Ultimus Champ)
WR Deondre Thomas-Fox (SJS) (2x Ultimus Champ)
QB Joliet L. Christ (SJS) (Hall of Fame) (1x Ultimus Champ)
A suggestion to make the league more exciting would be the addition of live commentary during game streams. It wouldn't be for every game every week as the simulation would have to be slowed down and game day would run extremely long. Instead, I propose that one game every ISFL week gets chosen to be streamed slower with a pair of announcers providing commentary for the game. There could be a poll during the offseason where all players can vote for which matchup they want to see this way every week. Or this poll could happen the week prior or alongside the announcement for the weekly predictions. I think this would help bring more life into the dots on the screen and make it easier for newer players to meet and learn about the other players in the ISFL. I know I still have trouble matching up names with players and understanding some of the statistics that accompany games. So having live commentary even for just that one game would be helpful.
To make the league better, we need to make it less boring. Ban user Offensive Linemen because that's a boring position. All offensive lines should be equal. Improve how much money people make for making graphics. Making graphics is fun. Making a shit ton of graphics because they're not worth enough to get equipment and training otherwise is boring. Waiting more than a day for games is boring. Games should be simmed every day. Shorten the length of seasons down to 2 weeks instead of a month. More games and more seasons means more fun and fun is the opposite of boring. Another thing that needs to be changed is the game used to sim. Dots are boring. Instead, Madden should be used. As we all know, Madden has the best logic of any football game and therefore is the best game to be used for simming. Madden is fun. Fun is the opposite of boring.

As a brand new member to ISFL, I’m still somewhat learning all of the little details and aspects of the league that make it more engaging. However, one thing that’s already stood out to me is all of the extra activities that give members even more reason to engage with the league. I really liked the concept of the league wiki and having users maintain their own player page. I love the trading cards a lot, because it helps scratch my in real life desire to open sports trading card packs. Add on to that the fantasy football league, which as a rookie in the DSFL is giving me reason to follow along with the ISFL and get in tune with who some of the more notable players and teams are. So my suggestion is going to be in line with adding something extra to the site, and I’m going to cheat a little by doing a callback to my days in the SHL years ago when I remembered going into the SHL Arcade with little embedded flash games that players could play to try and break the league’s high score. The ISFL Arcade could start with mainly football related themed games, and it could maybe be integrated as a subforum/piece of the Casino where members have to pay to get entries/play the game and enter some sort of tournament where the winner takes all. If it garnered enough interest, it could theoretically even develop into a broader eSports league where we aren’t limited to just little web games embedded in the site but actually start playing maybe Madden or other games on Steam/etc.
