Player created on 7/17 - 4 prompts
- What is your favorite part of the league so far and are there any users that have really helped you get involved?
I don’t know if I’m really the target audience for this question, given that this is my fifth (wow!) player and I’ve been involved for a while, but I’d credit me sticking around to the fun environment on the early Philadelphia Liberty (now Cape Town Crash) teams way back in the day. I was part of their inaugural S2 draft class, joining a super young core that was excited to start winning. In particular, members like adam, Oles, and perry made the experience a lot of fun. As we were young, we improved pretty much every season, too. In S6, we made it all the way to the Ultimus; unfortunately, star receiver Josh Garden dropped a 4th-and-goal pass from the 1 in the dying seconds of the game and we were unable to take home the trophy. However, the next season we found ourselves back in the big game, once more taking on the Otters dynasty, and this time coming on top. This was just an example of my favorite part of this league - the feeling of building up a team from scratch into a contender and being rewarded for your work when it all finally comes together. - As a newly created player, was the experience intuitive? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve the experience of getting started in our league?
I hope it’s fine if I answer this question even though I’m not a new user. I am a former head of the rookie mentor department, so I’m at least a little bit familiar with the behind-the-scenes of getting new players started in this league, and it seems like the current team is doing a fantastic job! I got approved literally in three minutes, and, while the wait to be picked up on waivers is always agonizing, my Dallas Birddogs teammates have been very friendly and welcoming and I’m excited to get on the field. Additionally, the rookie server has seen a bit of a glow up since I’ve been in it as a rookie - I’m especially a big fan of the who’s who channel, it made it very easy to understand the landscape of the league as I was coming back in and I imagine it would be just as helpful for new users. - Write a letter to any perspective GMs that may be interested in picking you up in the upcoming draft(or waivers). What makes you stand out?
I’d like to think my case to be drafted kind of writes itself. I’m an offensive lineman, first of all, so your team definitely needs me. Also implicit in that position choice is that I don’t care about my personal stats, so you can just kind of put me wherever. Seriously. Additionally, I’ve been around for, like, fifty seasons and I’ve never hit free agency, so you don’t need to worry about that. (Do OLs even hit free agency in the first place? Kind of hard to be a diva at this position. Maybe I could try it.) I do have a few red flags though, so be careful before you draft me. Primarily, if you ever have the misfortune of letting me into your war room, I will put everything in a spreadsheet. That’s not a promise, it’s a threat. So, if you don’t want me to tell you our salary cap space is looking tight five seasons from now, do not draft me. (165 words)
- Talk about what inspired your players name and any meaning behind it
My player was named mostly on a whim. I’d been intending to create for a while, but couldn’t think of a good name. Then, there was a draft case decision written by Attopax for an appeals post where he used the word “jurisprudence” in his typical lawyery fashion. There was nothing wrong with the word in particular, but it was so over the top for the situation that we all took a good round of clowning him. It certainly didn’t rise to the level of the year-long commitment that a player name provides, but I pride myself on committing hard to a bit, and I’d been looking for a name for a while anyways, so Jurisprudence Jones was born. Jones was chosen because I thought it was funny to juxtapose a bizarre and clunky first name with the plainest last name known to man. However, unlike previous players where I’ve been rather attached to their names, I have no such feelings this time around. So, if a charity drive comes around I’d gladly auction off JJ’s name for the greater good. (181 words)
