NOLA have a maxed out quarterback in Octavion Speedings who has two wide receivers, a tight end and a running back all over 1,000 TPE. He is likely to put up historic numbers in what will be an historic year for NOLA. TE Bread Bowl is playing his last season and they have two offensive linemen (Keiljah Verwae and Aaron Jager) that are over 750 TPE. NOLA have the top offensive TPE, top Defensive TPE and 5 QB TPE. They average 840 TPE to the next closest (BAL) 819 TPE. The Ultimus is theirs to lose.
After a very strong showing, finishing 3rd in the ASFC and losing out by 6 to the Outlaws in the first round of the play offs last time out.. the only way is up. Most importantly they have ended their losing streak vs the Otters in Week 1 and this can only point to a breakout season for NOLA. The hoodoo is finally over.

The Kansas City Coyotes are the team looking to break out this season in the DSFL. Finishing S47 at the bottom of their conference, the Coyotes stand ready to compete with London to represent the North in the Ultimini in S48. The draft additions of Devin Mace, Tua Domine, Marshall von Hildebrand, among many others, are great adds for this team. Having a capped QB with Russell Jimmies and retaining the services of S48 ISFL first round picks Lheorvine Adebisi and Big Tractor to go along with these stellar rookies have raised expectations for this team. Many folks have this team picked to win their conference (even if those people are wrong), which is a strong leap from a team that finished a paltry 5-9 in S47. Kansas City could be a team much like Minnesota where this is their best chance to compete for a title before falling victim to call-ups after this season, so it will be important for them to seize this opportunity. Unfortunately for them, they will run into the London buzzsaw in the playoffs. (179 words)

As the whistle blows and another ISFL season begins, another fantasy football season comes with it. Last season, one of the biggest surprises was rookie Willie Swaggert, RB for the Berlin Fire Salamanders. This season, the Swaggert doubters are out in full force. Many are worried that with more weapons on offense, Swaggert won't see the touches he did to propel him to his absurd statline in season 47. Even his own GM has made comments suggesting those that used an early pick on Swaggert will be disappointed.
But I don't care what the haters have to say! Swaggert is primed to finish as a top 5 RB again and carry all of the believers to another fantasy group win. He will build on his performance from last year in the passing game and grow more as a runner, making the Fire Salamanders more two dimensional. Sometimes you just have to sit back and appreciate greatness, and that's what I plan on doing. Feel free to doubt him, but it's only going to end in disappointment. As for us? We're gonna have a lot of fun.
The one team in the DSFL that has improved the most during the offseason is the London Royals. This is because they aced the draft by selecting one player in particular. That player, who I know in my heart and soul will bring the Royals back to relevance, is "Big" Richard Johnson. A late round steal, the athletic offensive lineman is destined to lead his new team to glory. An immovable object in his college days, Big looks to build upon his craft as a pro. Richard comes from a long line of strong Johnsons so there is very little to doubt about his ability to thrive in the league. He is likely to start the season as the starting Right Tackle for the lions, but over time will undoubtedly take over the blind side protective duty after proving that he is a superior option to fellow rookie offensive lineman Baymax (what kind of name is that??).
Willier Miller is already on pace to beat his records from s47. In season 47, for example, he threw a total of 16 interceptions. After week 1, he is at 0. Projecting that number for 15 more weeks, he is on pace for a total 0 interception, an ISFL record. His completion percentage has taken a dive from ~60% of previous seasons, down to only 40%, but if you could trade a zero int rate for a slightly lower completion rate, many teams would take that deal. Also having put up 3 TDs in week one, he is on pace to throw a total of 48 (the math doesn't lie), which would be an all time high for his player, by 10. While projecting 16 weeks based on the results of week 1 may seem unusual to some, the sim can't be predicted- anything in possible. Given that, I am calling it now, Willier Miller will be ISFL and Ultimus MVP, with a legendary 0 int season.

Jordan Bamford is one of the main receivers for the Arizona Outlaws. This player, by virtue of being on a team that intends to consistently complete, is set to have a great season. Obviously we will have to ignore the loss on their way to this endeavor, but it was SJS hype stuff so it's ok. Now, obviously what Mr Bamford needs to do is upgrade his competitiveness as we saw him have 2 fumbles in that game as well. Arizona is not a team to take lightly, and have magic strats we're in awe of, and his 111 yard game only further proves that he intends to drag their team to success in order to keep the curse away. He's also going to have a tough time given our conference seems to be determined on not actually tanking. But his run of success has no real signs of slowing down as it is.

Ignatious Cleetington is really hitting his prime in the ISFL. With 2 double digit sack seasons behind him, he moves to the lead linebacker position for the Sarasota Sailfish this season. The Sailfish opened their season with a strong win over the Berlin Fire Salamanders on the road, and Cleetington was a big part of their domination in a match that would look to heavily favor the Fire Sallies if you only looked at the stat lines. Cleetingon scored the Sailfish first TD of the year, a goal line forced fumble and recovery on Berlin's own end zone. He continued to dominate the entire game, with 8 tackles and another forced fumble and recovery combo while the Fire Salamanders were only 3 yards from the Sarasota goal line late in the 4th quarter. Cleetington also grabbed a single pass defense as well to remind the Fire Salamanders he's not just a pass rusher. With the Sailfish expected to be in contention for a playoff berth this season, Cleetington's presence on the defensive side of the football promises to be a big part of their season. (185 words)
For me this was my first real offseason, after going through the ups and downs of my own first DSFL disappointment it was a nice palate cleanser and opportunity to dive headlong into the world of ISFL fantasy. As such I feel like I'm more up to speed with the goings on around the league. Bread Bowl's swan song, true Fisto fans, how Arizona keeps getting away with it. But for me I think the big excitement is going to be two mobile QB's approaching their primes. I could choose either Thor Bǫllrsveifla and his Crash or Lenard McRobinson and the Hahalua. I think both will be very exciting to watch, but lets punch the ticket for Thor Bǫllrsveifla. They absolutely decimated a solid Yellowknife Wraiths team in their opener. 284 yards on the ground including a three! headed attack of running backs and two TD's punched in by Thor. They were decent in the pass game as well, but the crash is basically playing rugby out there. Stringing together long drives of rush attempts. And why not keep pounding the rock until someone proves they can stop you. Its easy to overreact to any one week, but I think even if there are some bumps along the road its going to be fun to watch the Crash this year if you like the ground game.
There is likely no more important selection to be made in the ISFL draft than the very first one. The #1 overall pick has the power to make or break a new era for any franchise and this season that responsibility fell to the Colorado Yeti. If they use it wisely, then we could see a renaissance of the old Yeti who made (and lost) 2 straight Ultimus’s against the San Jose Sabercats. Well luckily for them this seasons #1 pick is the easiest in years. WetWilleh, also known as Willeh Strong, won the DSFLs MDM award and created at linebacker, the most important position on defense. Of course it takes some time for these picks to grow fruit, and anything can happen in the meantime, but I have a feeling we will look back at this pick as the start of a strong Colorado Yeti squad. In the meantime, keep an eye on him for defensive rookie of the year.
