My draft season was S10 and it feels a lot further than it actually was.
The probabilities of me going to either San Jose or Philadelphia were pretty much at 100 %. It was just a matter of which team would pick their QB first and then the other one would follow shortly after. Christ was selected by San Jose and as a result, I went to Philly. Being drafted in the top 5 is cool, and I think I've proven to be a good choice for Philadelphia. Of course, we don't win games left and right like San Jose but we qualify for the playoffs and for a team with our luck and with the pieces we had when I arrived, I think that's good. I sometimes think of testing free agency and try my luck elsewhere for an Ultimus but ultimately, I want to win in Philadelphia or not at all. They have never felt any kind of doubt towards me and I feel like their loyalty should be rewarded with the same thing from me. On the night of the draft itself, it just felt surreal to be selected by any NSFL team. I had good seasons in Tijuana but also shared duties with someone else. I'd have to prove I could be a starter with an NSFL team and the Liberty gave me that chance. (07-05-2021, 03:34 PM)r0tzbua Wrote: My favourite person from Quebec (next to Celine Dion) @enigmatic
Grind. There are a lot of reasons why Tony Gabagool got the nickname of "The Big Salami" but if you ask him, it's because of the grind and the work he puts in ever single day.
"Was I surprised that I fell so much in the draft? Of course I was. I felt like my pre draft work spoke for itself, but obviously the teams in the league felt that I still have a lot to improve on. I was lucky to be spending the draft with the love of my life, football. I played madden with some of my rookie bowl teammates to try to stay sane. At the end of the day, the expansion team Solar Bears traded a lot of draft capital to move up and get me, so like I have said in the past, I am honoured that a team would have that much confidence in me." Obviously grind wasn't enough to become a high draft pick for Tony. Rumours swirling around the pre draft media rooms were that his interviews didn't go as well as he expected. But, will grind be enough to get him over the top to become a future superstar in this league? Only time will tell.
Draft Day was one of the best days in the career of Carlito Crush. It seems so long ago at this point, but the Season 5 draft saw the Colorado Yeti owning the first two picks in what felt like, at the time, a stacked draft class. I had known going into the draft that Colorado had lots of interest in me, and there was a good chance I’d be taken early. I was a tight end at the time, and I was just coming off an Ultimini Bowl victory with the Portland Pythons. The Yeti needed a playmaker on offense for sure, and they were taking Andre Bly Jr with one of the first two picks as well for the defense. Needless to say, the Yeti walked up to the podium to start the NSFL Draft and said: “With the first pick in the Season 5 NSFL Draft, the Colorado Yeti select: Carlito Crush, Tight End, Portland”. Just like that, my life was changed. I was a first overall pick, and now I was the face of a franchise that needed one. I immediately got interviewed on the draft stream and had a ton of fun that night. It was a night I’ll never forget, no matter how long I’ll be in the league. It’s my second best memory, right behind finally winning the Ultimus. (226)
The day that D’Pez Poopsie was called was a glorious and wonderful day. It was the fateful night of the Season 10 Draft. Fresh off a running back of the year award in the DSFL the season before, D’Pez had worked right after the Ultimini to become a cornerback. He was working behind the scenes night in and night out with his training staff to drop 30 pounds and just become a great shut down man. D’Pez really hadn’t heard anything leading up to draft night, but he knew that for a fact he was going to be headed to San Jose. If it was first or second pick, it really did not matter, because that was his home and there was no doubt about it. When Draft Night Happened, It was a shock to the world that D’Pez Poopsie was taken ahead of Kazimir Oles and the league was shook. A cornerback going number one overall behind a wide receiver, and there were a lot of doubters about it. You could look back and listen to the Draft night and hear the commentators complaining about such a pick in D’Pez going first overall. That is what motivated Poopsie to continue to become great.

My draft day was really interesting. A lot of the reason it was interesting, however, went back to before the draft day with how I was scouted.
Back in the S11 season, I was approached by 3 teams. Those teams were Arizona, Orange County, and Baltimore. With the second and third picks in the draft, I was fully expecting to be taken by Arizona. They expressed a lot of interest in me, needed a wide receiver for their QB Kevin Fitzpatrick, and I had ties with the same agency as King Bronko. However, on draft night, I was passed over by Arizona with the 2nd overall pick, and then the 3rd overall pick. I would not be a member of the Outlaws. After that I got a call from the Baltimore GM. He gave me some reassuring news. On the phone, he told me that if I was available at 6th overall, I would be taken by the Hawks. This was certainly a reassuring prospect. However, it never got to that point. With the 5th overall pick in the draft, Orange County selected me in the draft. It was definitely a big moment for me. Every season since then, I have won a championship with whatever team I was with.
Coming out of college Johnny Snuggles was a highly sought after rookie. A rare combination of fantastic athlete and a position in great need may have artificially inflated his stock some, but he didn’t care, he loved the attention, as any cornerback would. He ended up going first overall in the DSFL draft to the Kansas City Coyotes. Snuggles had a decent, but not outstanding, season, but most importantly, the Coyotes brought home their first ever Ultimini. Then, the draft hype started for the NSFL. Snuggles had shown fantastic growth and proved to be a very valuable member of a great defense, but would people care? He was still playing a position of need throughout the league, but fellow CB Spencer Castle has put up a hell of a season too. Mock after mock came out with Snuggles on top, but does that really mean anything? The talking heads on ESPN sure act like they know what they’re talking about, but there’s a reason they’re on ESPN and not in the war room. Luckily for Snuggles, it was a short wait to find out. The “experts” were right for once! Snuggles was in fact going first overall to the very need Yellowknife Wraiths. Even better? Snuggles would be lining up with (and learning from) arguably the greatest CB to play the game, Dermott Lavelle.
