6) Our Time
For the past 2 seasons the San Jose Sabrecats have been the favorites for the Ultimus trophy for a few reasons. The biggest reason is that we as a team have the most TPE combined in the entire league, and it's by a wide margin for most of the teams, though the other top teams aren't insanely far off. But aside from the TPE issue we also have something that really sets us apart. We have something to fight for as a team. Each year we have a chance as a group to bring San Jose its first Ultimus victory. You only get to make that happen once. How damn special would it be to be a part of that team? Everyone is working that much harder during practices, in the film room and in the gym to make it happen. We've had it taken from us in the first round of the playoffs two seasons in a row, this team isn't willing to let that happen again. Finally, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention something else. The power of friendship. If you've spent a second in the San Jose locker room you know about the friendship that binds us together. Seriously, Muford doesn't go a day without mentioning it lol.
9) Rivalries
Let me say before anyone gets butt hurt over what I'm saying right now that I have a lot of respect for the Orange County Otters. They have some great members and have been a model organization for several seasons. But if you go back through the seasons recently and look at the playoff matchups this is what you'll see.

Son of a bitch if it doesn't ware on you seeing the fucking Orange County Otters in the playoffs EVERY SINGLE SEASON! That's not an exaggeration, they have NEVER MISSED THE PLAYOFFS! So you know what, OCO you've had some great members over the seasons, but just cut it out. Let someone else take your spot for one season. For a little more motivation, Orange County losing means that San Jose will have won their very first playoff game in history, so that'd be pretty meaningful as well.
13) That Magic Moment
This might sound a little dumb, but honestly the entire Ultimus was magic. It's hard to pick a single moment (though I will) because for everyone involved (the players, the coaches/management, the fans, etc.) making it to the Ultimus for the first time in Sabrecats history is magic in and of itself. There was one magic moment in the actual game though. One moment that had everyone in San Jose realizing that we might actually end the drought and bring home our first NSFL championship.
It's the start of the 2nd half. The score is 17 - 16 in favor of Philly. Everyone has their war face on. Philly kicks off and the Sabrecats make their way down the field. 2 yards from the end zone and on 4th down Donaldson gives San Jose a 19 -17 lead. This is where it starts. Donaldson kicks and Barnes is brought down at their 22 yard line. Coach calls for a safety spy play. Trey Staley fakes playing deep in the backfield with Thad. The ball is snapped and immediately Staley starts running forward toward the line while Chad picks up Barnes who running a slant. Falconi's pass to Staley is no longer there because he thought SJS was playing zone instead of man with Chad tied to Barnes' hip Falconi panics and runs back. The pocket collapses and Staley is right on Falconi flattening him for a loss of 7 yards. The bench erupts and the players on the field erupt. The next play Falconi passes too far in front of the receiver and on 3rd down Chad Pennington destroys the running back. Unable to convert, Philadelphia have to punt the ball and with it they lose any chance of winning the game. San Jose led for the rest of the game after that. That was our magic moment.
