I am going to create an all defensive team at this point of the season. Right now there have been ten games played, that’s ample data. At defensive end I choose Taylor and Toblerone. Both have had nearly identical seasons so far. They do it all, tackles for loss, sacks, and forcing fumbles. My two defensive tackles will be Roth and Haywood. Just like the DE’s I chose, these DTs have shown a diverse skill set against the run, sacking the QB, and creating fumbles. My outside LBs will be Slammu and Goodman, I love their sack totals and Goodman’s playmaking in pass coverage. My middle linebacker will be Rucker. He has the second most tackles and an insane seven forced fumbles to this point. The two cornerbacks I choose are Miller and Triplet. This was a tough choice, as many corners have similar stats. But these two have shown great run support, high pass deflections, multiple interceptions, both have a defensive TD, and in Triplet’s case two forced fumbles and two recoveries. Rounding out this all defensive team are my two safeties, Turtle and Maple. It seems as though the new sim is not very kind to the safety position. But I’m sure they still play an important role. In my eyes those two have shown the most diverse play amongst ISFL safeties. (224 words)
I've decided to use a modified All-Pro team format (excluding OL and FB due to difficulty collecting key stats without the comprehensive sheet) for this early Team of the Year preview. Here is my offensive first team roster:

In looking at the current best Defense of the ISFL, I've got to play it simple and go based purely off stats. However, I'm going to do something a little different and create a Defense consisting purely of blitzing players. Imagine lining up as an offense and seeing Goodman, Slammu, Domine, McMullet, Walls, Smart, Lover, Montain, Woody, Jones Jr., and DukeMarriot lined up against you. 113 sacks between these players, 34 tackles for losses, 30 forced fumbles, and 8 fumbles recovered! This is a team that's prepared to go after the ball and prevent any forward progression. All of these players are max earners, have a great history with the league, and are model players young ISFL and DSL players should look up to not only for their on the field play but off the field activity as well. CBs and Safeties will always be necessary on a Defense, but for the sake of fun, I'd love to see the mentioned 11 players lined up and rushing the QB with a fury never before seen in this league. |
