8. With awards season upon us, make up an award for your player win for something not on the football field?
I think a wonderful award that the ISFL not only could but should introduce would be Multi-legged Community Enhancement Officer. You see for too long have the bi-pedal and the rest been grouped together. When you think about it we multi-legged individuals are paying oftentimes triple, sometimes quadruple the amount for shoes and cleats and other equipment. And for what? To be judged by the same criteria as those with a far safer floor. Imagine if you break a single leg. You are simply just out for the season. If we break a leg? We have 5 more ready to go and are expected to play hurt. It's just not an apt comparison to say that those with two legs and those with more are equal. A seperate award for those with multiple legs is only fitting. And what better way to encourage this than to see what the multi legged can do for their community. What they can give back to those with more legs than they have brain cells. Therefore I think it only fitting that Rab The Crab, who has given tirelessly in the name of crabs, lobsters, molluscs and other deep sea individuals, be considered for the inaugural Multi-Legged Community Enhancement Officer. Were it not for him hundreds of crustaceans would be left in shoe based poverty. Rab has donated 800 pairs of shoes and 600 spare trouser legs to the community. Enough to outfit the average family of 5 crabs. But only through the donations of others, and the buy in of the wider ISFL people will it be possible to carry this idea forward from nothing more than a notion and a gesture of goodwill, to a league based award for social change, goodwill and the empowerment of all individuals with tonnes of legs.
14. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season?
It was a particularly unusual season for Rab and the Pythons in Season 34. Despite having a very strong start and looking likely to qualify for the playoffs, some dropped games toward the latter part of the season combined with some unusual math, the Pythons would end up dropping out of the playoff race. First, the positives. Rab had a wonderful debutant season. It's always good to break your duck early, and breaking it against the Grey Ducks and nemesis Owen Farrell was a great turn. To add to that, breaking it twice is even sweeter. Getting the touchdown monkey off of your back early and getting a double was a great turn up for Rab. Unfortunately this would be the peak of Rabs yardage on the ground with 135 yards. His diminuitive stature would struggle to get much done on the ground outside of that. Week 14 would be the next time Rab would set a high standard, with his first 3TD hat trick game of the season. Getting a hat trick is exceptional, and needless to say the young crab was delighted. to finish the season with over 1000 yards rushing, 14 TD's and a 5.1YPC average was a great run out for a debut season and long may it continue. Now as for the Pythons, a 5 game winning streak was snapped late on by an away trip to the Royals, followed by a big win vs Norfolk. Unfortunately the Royals would prove to be the banana skin for the season as the Pythons would go on to lose the next five of their seven games, pushing them out of playoff contention to give way to two teams who would eventually lose to a Dallas Birddogs team limping into the playoffs on a losing record. Were it not for a couple of results there could have been a real chance at an Ultimini in his debut season. Alas it was not to be.
