OT Pass
Thank you Dangerson
Task 7:
This season taught me many things with both the sim and the league environment. First with the sim, it makes no sense and the sim AI is the biggest coward in the universe. There were multiple instances where teams were on 4th down at like the 40 or whatever and since it's like the 3rd quarter or only 10 minutes left the sim AI doesn't realize that punting it is stupid. Another thing is the run play art. You'll the running back go like completely sideways and just skip past everyone by instantly going like five yards from the o-line. While outside zone and toss plays exist IRL, the in game play art just makes it look incredibly scuffed. With sacks, about 2/3 of these come from free rushers and not from winning the pass rush or by scheming. While I understand the limitations of the game and it can't program stuff like stunts, green blitzes, pass protection, etc. which are incorporated and schemed in an IRL football defense, I think the it shouldn't resort to just having more dudes in the tackle box. You'll just get stuck on a lineman and since it doesn't matter your stats like 80% of the time you getting hit by a block at all takes you out of the passing play. With the league and interacting with users it was a fun experience. Watching and commenting on DSFL games with Glims and Chucky were fun, even if we got bashed over the head most times. The DSFL draft itself wasn't really anything I thought noteworthy, mainly cause I forgot about it (I might have actually woken up after it occurred because it was like 12pm and my sleep schedule has been completely destroyed since COVID began.) The only bad thing about the draft process was the scouting since the GMs all asked the same thing. I understand why they have to, but it is nonetheless annoying. Task 16: For my player currently, by build is currently an All-Purpose Defensive Tackle. This means that my player can A) play on the defensive line anywhere; I played DE for like half the season, and B) is helpful in the run in terms of tacking up blockers. I've already reached 80 strength and max speed for my archetype. I am also DSFL capped and am currently sitting in the 320's unless something happens with my TPE earnings. I was tied with Valor for DT TPE earning at the final update before the draft (if only similar TPE would translate to stats DDSPF.) I continue to plan to be an incredibly active user as I have been already, making multiple pieces of media that allowed me to buy Tier 6 Equipment for both Season 35 and Season 36. I am willing to play extra seasons in the DSFL for a team if necessary and am willing to play for a rebuilding team (as you can tell by how much the Buccaneers have lost already). 2.5 TPE: - Task 15:
Disneyland is going to be in a lot of trouble. Cobra Kai is coming to town. Still not locked up in a Honolulu prison cell due to the ultimus festivities he is now heading in Disneyland where trouble will be looking for him. A suitcase full of Coors Banquets is all he need for his trip. And even before he goes in the first right he already had a bit too much. So while his teammates were visiting the gifts shops to buy stuff for their kids, Cobra Kai saw a guy dressed in a mouse outfit and he started shouting against him. "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE MOUSE MAN", "DO YOU THINK YOU OWN THIS PLACE??? THIS IS MY HOUSE NOW. I SCORED 3 TOUCHDOWNS IN THE ULTIMUS !!!" And right when Cobra Kai was making a motion to punch the guy, the guy in the mouse costume whistled twice and security came out running, dragging Cobra Kai to the nearest exist, this must be shortest visit to Disneyland in history. 2.5 TPE: - Task 16: Why a team should draft Montagne? Honestly I am not even sure as there are enough quarterbacks from quality users in the draft. So considering that there are people like nunc and gucci, and darkness is probably also switching to it. So why would someone pick me over them? I really do not know what would make me stand out over them. I will hopefully be a decent player for the team that picks me, but since all players are capped in the dsfl, it really doesn't matter who you pick out of the bunch. So here's hoping to be drafted at all. That would already be a great bonus. So far only half of the teams reached out, so I would think one of Dallas, Portland, London or Tijuana will select me, but have no idea who will strike first. I hope I can actually go in one of the lower rounds as I don't really care much about draft position, let the first gens enjoy getting drafted high, that helps them to get hyped up for the league. 2.5 TPE: - Task 19: 2.5 TPE: - Task 31: SHL Affiliate - https://simulationhockey.com/showthread....pid3229024 Total tpe: 10 Disclaimer: If Princess Donut talks, its in caps lock. Task 17
With the Yellowkinfe Wraiths laying ground on a brand new stadium, they have asked the players what additions would be good. Jack McPherson suggested having a way to help keep the fans warm during the games in the Canadian cold by adding an artificial hot springs in the high res boxes and some hot tubs along the sides. He also had an idea for some kind of Wraith statue just outside of the stadium looking over the scoreboard. They still want to keep the classic scoreboards, but the team did suggest upgrading them so the numbers are more clear. Another thing that Jack suggested is a Team Hall Of Fame showing off the great players who have played in Yellowkinfe over the years. Also maybe a better shop for buying team apparel and a way to honor which fan signs are the best by having a Fan Sign Hall of Fame. The higher ups told the team soon after that most of those ideas can be implemented, but the hot springs might be a challenge. Task 19 One thing you have got to know about Jack McPherson is that he loves visiting various restaurants around the country and beyond while he travels for the team. So his show would be Flavor Run With Jack McPherson where he shows off the great restaurants he had stopped by on his travels. It would always be flimed during the offseason and during the season he would keep visiting different restaurants and keeping notes on which ones are the best ones. Then he would surprise The ones who are during filming by showing up with a camera crew and discussing the place with the owners if he can. Yeah it's a lot like a Guy Fieri show, but Jack would watch a lot of his shows on the road so he would take inspiration. He would also occasionally take some of his teammates to the restaurants when they are able to come. Since his family owns a BBQ wings restaurant, Jack does know a lot more about the restaurant business then other players. Task 28 It's honestly surprising that there are no Ohio teams in this league. Well for this I would hope to change that by introducing the Cleveland Bulldogs, who would have a Bulldog wearing a football helmet as thier logo. Cleveland is a place woth a lot of football history (not all of it illustrious I will admit) and is about an hour away from the real life Pro Football Hall of Fame. The colors would be sliver and black, simply because no one else in the league has used it before. The stadium can have black and white turf unless it clashes too much with the team colors of course. Honestly the team would have to be in the ISFL, because the DSFL already has the Dallas Birddogs and the Kansas City Coyotes who are related to dogs by being canines. I also think the helmets would ether have the logo on the sides or would go old school with player numbers on the side. Task 31: SHL Affiliate PT Quote:16. This task is exclusive to recreate/non-recreate rookies of the S36 class and later. The season is over and the draft is coming up. What do you bring to a team, and why should a team choose to take a chance on you next season? (Written Task) Matthew Mara is a speedy wide receiver who already has his first DSFL touchdown when he scored one for the London Royals who picked him up off of waivers. I'm a "non-recreate" rookie and brand new to the league. Who doesn't like a shiny new toy? I could be anything. I should be a top 10 earner in TPE who doesn't need to be reminded to do his Activity Checks and PT's. I usually do all that stuff at the beginning of the week. I also create a fair amount of signatures and enjoy writing the occasional article so earning money also shouldn't be a problem. I'm pretty easy going in the locker room although I am not going to be the most active. I'm new to the league so I am willing to listen to build advice and do whatever helps the team where I can. I hope to join a fun team who cares about my player as much as he cares about the team. [ 165 words ] +2.5 TPE Quote:25. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why? (Written Task) If wide receiver wasn't available then my next choice would likely be on the defensive side of the ball. Maybe the mirror position to wide receiver and go with corner back. See if I can use my speed to shut down the opposing teams best receivers. I think it would be where I would best maximize my abilities. The strong and free safety positions would work well too, especially when I get the opportunity to use my speed to blitz the quarterback. Line-backer would also be fun but I'd have to put on some weight. I would likely be primarily a speed rusher who specializes in turning the corners quickly and getting pressure on the opposing quarterback. So what position is that? RE maybe? Halfback would also be a fun experience. I think I could use my speed and agility to really help a team excel. I feel like it would be a more natural choice than something like tight end who do a lot more blocking in general. Honestly it doesn't matter. Just put me in coach! [ 178 words ] +2.5 TPE Quote:26. Football is a game that has been going on for a while, loved by fans all over. But what if you were able to make some rule changes? Talk us through your new version of football, and what would be different and why? (Written Task) First thing I would do is try and improve the scoring since people love offense. To achieve this I would double all points. So touchdowns would equal 12 points, field goals 6, point after would have to be renamed to "points after" because there would be 2 for that now. Of course the two-point conversion would become the four-point conversion. More offense. Problem one solved. Second thing I would change is the "coin toss" to decide the field and possession. The whole ordeal is kind of strange and not really all that exciting on television. So instead, each team will be required to send out a representative. The opposing players will then perform paper/rock/scissors to determine the winner. Problem two solved. Lastly I would change the field markings to go from 0 to 100 rather than these 50/50 lines. I don't do maths so trying to figure out the distance a punt goes between my 24 yard line and where it ends up in the opponents 26 yard line is too much to handle. I don't need that confusion. "The punt was kicked from the 26 yard line and landed at the 76 yard line". Well that seems like it is a 50 yard punt. Much much easier. Yet another problem solved. Feel free to use any of these in the league. [ 225 words ] +2.5 TPE Quote:31. Affliate PT from either SHL/PBE/WSBL. The Weeks must match with the timeframe of this Offseason Task. Tier 2: Short Form Tasks (Each must be 300+ words)
Choose up to TWO for 5 TPE each. 8. With awards season upon us, make up an award for your player win for something not on the football field? The award that would most fit for Doc would be “Silent but Deadly”. While initially you would think that this would be in relation to his flatulence, it is. BUT it is also in relation to the presence that we have on the Discord Forum, in the LR and all around the league. Doc has never been a loud mouth or a vocal player, really the same way that I am as a person. You let your actions do your talking for you, whether it is on the field or in the locker room. Doc will always be there to support the team either on a one on one level or a team conversation, he will be there. Being a team player isn’t about how loud your voice is, it is about what you do when no one is watching you, when no one is telling you to do what you should be doing, you just go out and do it. It is in his time with London and with NOLA that he learned the true value of what it means to be a team player. To be the student and learn and soak up all the knowledge that he can along the way and put that into how he talks to new players or how he works with existing players, how he communicates in the locker room. Doc has also learned how to plan out his meals so that he can truly have the most deadly silent farts imaginable. It is a combination of several things, lots of dairy, tons of protein and only the vegetables that smell absolutely horrid. With the combination of ingredients, Doc has been successful in creating a stench that can clear out a stadium. At the same time, Doc ensures that he is still loved by his team, he really is the whole package of stink and love, and that is why he deserved the Silent but Deadly award. 13. Expansion Expansion Expansion! Tell us why you think the league should expand / not expand or include any ideas (in words) for team branding ideas you have or team locations. I think the word expansion is a dirty word right now. In my own opinion I do not think there is a reason to expand until all of the teams are filled or close to filled with players. What we should really be doing is steering creates or re-creates away from saturated positions. I know that there are a lot of people who really want to try out a specific role to see what it would be like. I think most of the people that play in sim leagues do it for the fun of the group or the teams that they play for. For more tenured or re-creates, this should be first of mind for them when they go to make a new character. Setting clear expectations or “current players in position” when people go to create a player would help us with making sure that teams are not loaded with several of the same type of player. If the expansion is based on wanting new teams, maybe we should do a league vote on some rebranding, maybe there is an opportunity to rebrand and vote on what team, where to move to another “state”, change their colors, change the mascot etc. This would be a good solution. Unless I am looking at this wrong and all the teams are already at capacity, then we should look at adding a new team, something more fun in an obscure place where no one plays or knows about football. Like a team that was in the South Pole, they practice and play in the arctic winter to be better prepared for any weather that may come up, or what about a team that is found in the Lost City of Atlantis? In conclusion, we don’t need to expand, but if we do… let’s make it cool.
3. The Colorado Yeti is quite the storied franchise, and as such has a litany of players and front office personnel that have shaped the franchise throughout the years. One such player in particular was a standout, and really the gold standard for the position during his time, wide receiver for the Colorado Yeti his entire career, spanning from 2037 (Season 22) to 2047 (Season 32) after spending one year in the DSFL with the Dallas Birddogs. After a very quite first year in the ISFL where he only gained 310 receiving yards, Lim went on a rampage through the league, averaging over 1428 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns per season for ten straight seasons. And not only was Lim a model of consistent excellence on the field, he was also an ultimate example of team loyalty, spending all 11 of his seasons in the ISFL with his drafting team, the Colorado Yeti. Another example of his loyalty and value to the team, Lim didn't use his status as an all time great player to diva his way into collecting big numbers in his final season either and allowing himself to drop all the way down to the fourth receiver and only add a modest 620 receiving yards to his illustrious career (coincidentally twice that of his first season). This type of team first attitude paired with his incredible output really made William Lim a pillar of the Colorado Yeti and an example for the players that followed him. But I keep talking about what a great player Lim was without actually giving any context, so we'll reference @Modern_Duke's excellent article The Hall of Fame Wide Receiver Primer to fill us in on his career relative to the Hall of Fame inductees and the retired players (at the time of writing the article) who might stand a chance to get in. At the time of his retirement, Lim had collected 977 receptions, good for second all time in the league, for 14692 yards, ranking first place all time, and an outstanding 106 touchdowns, putting him at third place all time. Arguably the top three most important statistical categories for a receiver, and Lim retired on the podium for all three. Honestly the most shocking ranking that Lim has is that his 15.04 yards per reception is only ranked 52nd all time, but looking through the article again it looks like only a handful of the top 20 in that category are even in consideration for Hall of Fame contention, let alone actually in the hall, so I suppose that stat isn't as important. Continuing on we can look at some of the individual accolades that Lim acquired over the years, racking up 8 pro bowl nods in the 9 seasons he was a top contributor for the team. And during those 8 seasons he was elected to the pro bowl, in 3 of those he was also voted a Wide Receiver of the Year, which, at least according to Duke's article, is only surpassed by Bradley Westfield's 4 wins for that particular award. In addition, Lim holds numerous records for the Yeti, including the team's single game record for catches (13), receiving yards (219) and kick return touchdowns (1), and the team's season records for catches (130), receiving yards (1926) and kick return touchdowns (1). All of that is a long way of saying William Lim was a bad, bad man on the football field and off of it, due to his willingness to play all over the field and do whatever he needed to do to help the team win, be it taking the lead or falling back and supporting his teammates.

17. Your team has announced that they will be laying ground on a new stadium next season. What additions would you like to see included in it.
Oh boy! It’s about time Arizona got a new stadium. This thing is decrepit and ownership has neglected it for long enough. They wonder why no one comes to the games and blame everyone but themselves. It’s good to see them finally look in the mirror and see they are the issue. So, number 1 on my wish list for what I’d like to see in the new stadium is trough style urinals. Long lines be gone! With trough urinals it’s every man for himself. Nudge on in, there’s room to take a leak. Don’t worry if you bump elbows with the stranger next to you. They’re just as uncomfortable as you. But you know what makes the discomfort go away? The relief of relieving yourself and not standing in line holding it. Studies show that trough urinals shorten the wait time for bathrooms by half! That’s incredible. You’ll miss less of the game and be uncomfortable for a shorter period of time. 25. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why? If I couldn’t pick CB (which I never wanted to in the first place) I would have picked QB. It’s the most glory based position. What youth football player doesn’t grow up dreaming about throwing bombs? As a star QB, you’re almost guaranteed to be the face of your franchise. It really would be a dream to one day make a QB and I hope the timing lines up for me to be one. It would have to be the right situation tho. I wouldn’t want to be a QB on a losing team who just racks up volume stats. I want to be the star of one of the top offenses in the league. Most of the time QBs will win MVP and it’s hard to win the MVP if you’re on a bad team. So keep an eye out for my third recreate in 6-7 seasons. I’ll be taking the league by storm. Or not. I may fail too. 28. Written Option: You've been given the opportunity to create a new team in the ISFL! Describe what you'll be calling this team, why you picked the location you did, the colors you'll use for the uniforms, and anything else about the branding you'd like to add. The team I would make would be the Amarillo Armadillos. I picked Amarillo because I think this league could use more teams from Texas. There’s a huge market yet to be tapped as the only team in in Austin. Football is massive in Texas. It’s not just a game down there, it’s a lifestyle. The other part of picking Amarillo is because it’s very close to the mascot I wanted to use in the Armadillos and I love a good alliteration in team cities and names. The team would go for the classic black and silver approach that the Raiders made so famous. It’s clean and no nonsense. The team would be built in a defense first philosophy as Armadillos have a hard protective shell. We would have all types of swag, but the best seller would be a string strapped backpack that has a hard shell similar to that of an Armadillo. Who doesn’t want to walk around looking like an Armadillo? It’s just the best. 31. Affliate PT from either SHL/PBE/WSBL. The Weeks must match with the timeframe of this Offseason Task.
