6. Write 600 words or more on something about anything in the league that interests you. It could be related to statistics, a league issue that you take seriously, or a niche part of history that doesn’t fit neatly into either of the above categories. This must be directly related to the league, so don’t wax 600 words about your team’s participation on a Werewolf server or something.

Random league rant ahoy!
-Wow my player Saleem Spence kinda fell off this year. Nick Kaepercolin Jr.'s signing pushed him down the depth chart to option #2, and Spence's production showed, going from 1466 receiving yards to 1042. On the bright side Spence did catch a career high 12 touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to save Sarasota from a tough 7-9 season where a lot of RNG seemed to tilt against the team, losing 6 of their last 7 games (and 4 straight to end the year).
-Speaking of which, what went wrong with Sarasota this year? No one's really sure, Sarasota should have been a good team this year, and a couple teams that played better such as Berlin and Yellowknife seemed to be at low ebb going into the season. The defense is an obvious culprit, finishing 12th in points allowed and 13th in passing yards allowed. The passing secondary had talent, so I think the blame needs to be put on AI coaching giving everyone garbage coverage assignments. The hope is that Sarasota can get back into the swing of things next year, and its not an unreasonable hope: Sarasota is well-managed and contends every year, and is regarded as a good free agent destination to land at. We'll be back in the playoffs again.
-Meanwhile, here is the standard rant every year incoming about how the playoff system is busted and needs to be fixed. Last year people would argue against 6-9-1 Philly with some justification (even though they really should've made the playoffs at least once.), but this year we got two serviceable 8-8 teams in the NSFC that lost to arcane tie-breakers, and another 8-8 group in San Jose. Things would not have been affected that badly by San Jose and Berlin getting cameos in the playoffs, and sim sports should be about participation. 8 teams in gives people more hope and more reason to be invested in the league, but we continue to not do this even though only 1 or 2 bad teams would've been let in through the entirety of the 14 team era. I hope we get this changed soon.
-Looks like my former teammate Xavier Walls is going to be a contender in my eyes for the fan vote MVP. Walls had an astounding 19 sacks, forced 9 fumbles, recovered 4 of them, and also picked off a pass, all while playing as the leader of a defense on a 13-3 team. Good stuff from the former Portland Python.
-Wendell Sailor warrants consideration from me as the Quarterback candidate. Sailor's TD to INT ratio is a stellar 36 to 8, and he led the league at completion percentage with 68.4%. Sailor did only finish 8th in yards behind the usual high-volume passing suspects, but he brought quality every time. Arizona also finished 13-3, enhancing Sailor's case as being the lynchpin and leader for an outstanding team.
-Ultimately, the team reaping all the awards this year is Honolulu, the Season 35 Ultimus champions. Interestingly, they did so without a second running back, which I find to be a rather telling piece of info for the future meta of the site. Honolulu had only 338 rushing attempts all year, good for 10th in the league, but they were also middle-of-the-road in terms of passing attempts, so its not like they were airing it out that hard in relation to the run. I'm guessing the overall high caliber of the offense meant it could work, even without a second option to spell Runningback Cobra Kai. Sarasota used a similar strategy to use only John Huntsman as the primary ball-carrier as welll, and also had a successful offense. Maybe this is the future?
