Quote:8. This task is exclusive to non-recreate rookies of the S39 class and later. In 300 words or more, how has your experience been in the league? Who have you met that has made your time here more fun, friendly, and exciting? Have you been satisfied with your player’s early start? What was it like being drafted for the first time? Do you have any comments or suggestions for the entire league that you think should be implemented?
After my first full season in the league all I can say is that I've had a great time. From early on I received a lot good help and pointers when first creating my player and deciding what I wanted to be. As someone coming from the SHL the forum itself made a lot of sense early on, especially with the banking system being exactly the same. While there of course were some hiccups in terms of what to do and how to do things I still feel like the rookie guide and the people helped steer me in the right direction. And things quickly become second nature.
Sadly I missed the DSFL draft presentation for my class, but I was able to see the replay. Although it was less exciting already knowing which team picked me it was a still fun hearing my name called and get some callouts from the people presenting. After that I quickly settled into my team's locker room. The people in there continued to be really helpful. Especially the GMs Eric Belmont and AnUnoriginalGuy. AnUnoriginalGuy just stepped down sadly, but Thor has already stepped in with grandeur.
I was recently invited into the team's war room. It always feels good to have the confidence of the team's management. I haven't really been able to contribute as much as I would've like yet, however. I have no knowledge of the sim engine and little knowledge of how picks and players, etc, are valued. But I've at least been able to give some of my time to help scout for the upcoming draft.
Speaking of the upcoming draft. I've had a blast talking to the ISFL scouts as they and I prep for the ISFL draft. It seems like most people have me going in the top-4 which is similar to the feeling I've gotten from the scouts. But I've no idea where I'll actually end up. Excited to make a splash in the big league!
Quote:11. Write a short biography or story about your player. This could include background about how they came to the ISFL and how they’ve done so far, a story about their role in an exciting game, or anything else related to their experience in the league.
The most exciting game of the season was definitely in week 9. When the Buccaneers played against the Dallas Birddogs. Spoiler alert: It was Bondi Beach's first win in over a season and a half. And in it we also saw Jamdrian's very first recovered fumble, which he himself forced.
It happened at the end of the third quarter. The Buccaneers were only up by three points so it was still anyone's game. Tensions were rising on the sidelines. Could this become the Buccaneers first win?! And well, you already know the answer to that. But as we were almost in the fourth quarter every single possession now played a huge role. A single field goal and the game is tied. A touchdown and suddenly we're losing. Every play was high stakes. And for this specific play Dallas had made it down the field just inside the 40. Making it dangerously close to field goal position. It was a special play of sorts in that Jamdrian was being double-teamed instead of the other way around. They positioned two receivers across from him. Which in one way is always scary, but it also almost guarantees the ball will be coming that way. Which is always good to know upfront. During the play Jamdrian made the decision to focus on Hammer Doo, as coverage help was coming in from a Buccaneers safety. And since you're reading this story you can also probably guess that the ball was thrown to Doo. Who was able to catch the ball pretty easily, but when Jamdrian caught up he managed to punch the ball out! And luckily as that happened Doo lost his footing while Jamdrian managed to stay mostly upright. Allowing him to stumble in the ball's general direction and scoop it up. He even managed to gain a couple of yards until he was taken down by the Dallas offense. Although not much came out of it offensively, stopping the drive was a key play in this win.
