Lukas Van Ness off-season was action packed. He hit the gym and watched the draft with his friends and teammates. He was intrigued when Berlin took him in the 3rd. Earlier in his rookie season he had commented that he had a high interest in going to Berlin. Berlin GM, Dewalt, called Lukas as soon as he landed to ask him to switch positions from DE to LB. Lukas knew he belonged at DE but wanted to be on the field as much as possible. He switched to LB as a 4th stringer but still getting some playing time in their 4-3 scheme. In celebration of getting drafted, Lukas visited Israel as he studied it in school and was fascinated by the country. He got back as soon as he could though being as he could not let off the pedal training wise. He hit the training facility, track, film room and more getting ready for his time in Berlin.
What did my player do in the offseason? To put it succinctly, almost nothing. And that was intentional and glorious. The season really weighed in on the body, and the intent was to minimize my exposure to injury and heavy fitness so that I’m not one of those meme-able moments that all the fans make fun of, like tearing an ACL while washing my car or participating in a recreational league basketball league. All of this is made possible by doing as little as possible.
So what did my player do? He went to the Caribbean and sat on a beach for a month, soaking in the sun rays and meditating on how to improve for next season. I’ve got to keep my weight up, so I did plenty of eating, but instead of any harsh lifting or running, it was all about long walks on the beach at sunset. This process allows my player to come back to training camp in serviceable shape, and with a nice clear head ready to grind it out for another season. Code: 178 words
During this last off season i a lot of things. A majority of it I spent my time playing all the video games. The one i played the most was Witcher 3. Lots of fun running around a geralt looking for ciri while slaying monsters and getting caught up in unexpected political problems. I also took the time to move the family to San Jose. We had been living in Kansas City. The wife stayed there last year while i scouted San Jose looking for the ideal spot. and i believe we found it. I nice little wood house on the out skirts of the city near a large public park that connects to a nature reserve. We've got plenty of space for the dog and cat, as well as having a local area to hike and recreate in. We have even become weekly regulars at the nearby pizza shop a short walk down from the house. We are truly happy with our move.
Prompt Wrote:During the media portion of mini-camp, your player was asked what you did over the offseason. For this PT, describe what your player did during that time. Did you take your family to the Bahamas (or some other location)? Did you discover a new hobby? Anything to be able to describe a fun (or horrible) offseason! As with previous years and offseasons, my primary goal is to work on being the best player I can for the next season. The last couple years have had the extra focus of trying to turn our playoff appearances into playoff wins. I know I'm not as young as I used to be and so I only have so many years of being able to perform well enough to be helping my team out. The one difference from previous years is that I haven't yet updated my personal equipment - I'm not as sure about the value in the new stuff, so I'm trying to wait and see how helpful it's actually going to be. I'll probably end up getting it at some point, I figure, but I don't have an order in yet. I've also been keeping an eye on the draft - definitely have some interesting selections this year, and we did call up two rookies (WR Tolliver and OL Kahli) for this year - it's been fun to see them at training camp and getting drills in with them to try and both help them out and to keep myself ready to compete against the new class of the ISFL. the offseason for Kadarius is simply to relax. The season is long and grueling, and it's good to give your body a break from the wear and tear. This offseason was Bali, and literally just to party. We are talking girls, substances, whatever to enjoy the summer weather and good vibes. This was definitely not a trip to hang out with the family, if anything it's to get away! While in Bali, KC2 did in fact learn that he enjoys the guitar. Don't know why it happened or how, but hearing it while on vacation unlocked something that makes KC2 potentially want to try it out one day! In terms of the trip itself, the resort was great, the girls were fun, and Kc2 even ran into Formula One driver MAX Verstappen! There may have been a few drinks among superstars, let's just say that! But overall, it was an amazing expierence and an offseason to remember forever! Until the next one!
Now that season 40 is over. This is the first off-season where I truly feel my age. During this off-season, I made it my primary goal to recover as much as possible for the long road ahead. I have brought in tons of recovery tools and therapists this off-season. Going into mini camp this year I felt really good, it was nice to be a team leader. I let the team know in a few speeches and meetings before the season that this may not be the best year, but we still need to go out grow as a team and strive to be better every day. Once mini camps were over I decided to take my teammates out for a night. This may not be the best Butchers team in recent history, but I can guarantee that we have heart and will continue to strive to get better. Our younger players are active and working hard.

Over the offseason, I got set up down in Sarasota. It's hard moving you know, even if you don't own a lot the process is super stressful. Not to mention, I wasn't moving just myself, I bought my moms a house down there. So I had to help her as well. But once we got everything set up, it was go time.
Coming in straight out of the DSFL, I knew that I needed to hit the ground running. It was all training and work outs. I wanna stay on top of my game for as long as possible, you know. So getting started quickly and working to be in the best shape possible is the way to go. When I wasn't working out or training, I was going around the facility and meeting everyone I could. A team is more then just the players and coaches. There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes, so it's good to make sure everyone is recoginized. |
