One thing Austin Copperheads Rookie Running Back Howard Coward wanted to do as soon as he got the call up to the main roster was to endear himself the community around him. So it wasn’t too long after he moved to Austin that he worked with PR department to set up “Howard’s Heroes”, which is a non-profit group that helps gives kids a place to play after school for free. Many families can’t afford babysitters or daycare every day, so “Howard’s Heroes” invites the children to come on down to the practice fields outside of the stadium to run around and play for free. Of course Howard makes an appearance a couple of times per week when he can, and the kids can do football drills, play tag, and just generally have a good time. But that’s not all. Howard’s Heroes also takes the kids to local parks or other nice community areas where they’ll all pick up garbage or litter as a way to make their communities a bit nicer. It teaches the kids to have some pride in where they live, and not be general dickheads like most children are nowadays. (193)
