(S33) PT 3 – 7 Weeks Down

The Birddogs had a solid start to the season going 2-1 with impressive victories. Their defense has the potential to be staggering, holding offenses to 17 and 6 points in their victories. In their most recent loss, however, the Birddogs gave up a whopping 39 points. Although maybe not a defense powerhouse, that level of play is way below the potential of the Birddogs. With some dedicated rookies looking to make an impact, you would expect more consistency.

The Birddog style of play seems to resemble old school football—focusing on rushing and taking care of the ball while trusting the defense to make the right plays. If the Birddogs want to see continued success, they need to be more aggressive at times and trust in their veteran quarterback to gamble—and win. Overall there is more to be expected from the Birddogs, but the sky is the limit for them and they can make a real impact in the playofs with the unit they have.

To start out the season, Philadelphia had a rough time. While our defense was elite and our yards per game were great, we just were not converting anything into points. Recently though, we are on a 3 game win streak while scoring more than 30 points in each of the games. I feel like we have really found a great balance between the run game and the pass game to complement the defense. Even in our losses, we have played well. Our losses have been by 11, 2, 6, and 7. I believe we are truly on the path to playoffs if we can keep winning. We are 4-4 and are primed to make a push for the playoffs. Everything is going how it should be in the psat few games and I would not have it any other way. Last season we showed we could make it to the playoffs, this time we're here to show we can push through adversity and make a mark.

Yellowknife has won two games out of eight games so far. It's looking very unlikely that the Wraiths are able to go on a miracle run at the end. The last game against New York was a positive surprise. First win after losing six in a row. New York is second in ASFC, so perhaps we can use the momentum from this win in the next game and keep pushing forward? Yellowknife has experienced players, who should be able to guide the younger players through this rocky season, but question is, do the experienced players want to win? Sakura, Money, Kokot, and Quaid are the veteran is Yellowknife. Kokot has openly hinted towards retiring sooner than later, so we can only wonder how interested players like Kokot are to fight what seems like an impossible task.

Yellowknife is last in NSFC and at the bottom in the whole league. The experience is a huge advantage, but perhaps the right move would be to get rid of the older players, who are not showing a good example to the younger Wraiths? Could dramatic moves like that wake the team up? Another option would be to remove the fans and play to an empty arena. Yellowknife fans are demanding fans and sometimes too much for the younger players. Expectations are not very high when thinking about the final part of the season.

The Honolulu Hahalua are currently 2-5, so after two wins after eachother, we lost the last game again. So the question to ‘ what can we do better’ is obvious. We need to pay the sim team more. Sid’s college fund has been depleted after the Honolulu Ultimus win, so the leftover we have been chiming in together didn’t seem to make the sim team happy enough. Which resulted in a long losing streak (from last season to this one).

The Honolulu Hahalua also tried some voodoo magic, but this didn’t work, so we need to start a fundraiser altogether and hope we can win the last nine games. It’s a shame we lost players like Sam the Onion Man as it left us with a gap at wide receiver and since we can’t pay for our wins, we can’t compensate for the lack of skill.
