While resting during the bye week, Ace decided to take a trip down memory lane to look back through his college playing days with Cincinnati. He came across the game ball from his last season with the team, in the game vs Alabama. Cincinnati was never ranked in the top 25 while Ace was there due to a lack of recruiting on offense, but that year things seemed to click, with the Bearcats being 7-4 going into the last week against the 4 seeded Alabama team, a win could knock them out of the CFB, and that is exactly what Ace and the Bearcats aimed to do. The defense clamped down against Alabama, with Ace grabbing 2 Ints during the game, returning one for a TD before the end of the first half, bringing the score to 7-7 at half. The game was a defensive battle until the last drive for Alabama, in which one of the LBs picked off the Alabama QB again, setting us up for a 30 yard FG to win the game and knock them out, with the coach giving Ace the gameball for scoring the only TD of the day.
So, we’re throwing it back to the glory days, are we? For Harley Andrews, we’re not going to go back super far, just to his sophomore season with the Florida Gators. Wait, that was nine years ago?! Ok, I guess it’s back a little further than I thought. Anyway, Andrews finally cracked the starting lineup that season and was having a strong season but hadn’t really put his mark on any specific game over the course of the season. That was going to change quickly though when the Gators faced off against the Georgia Bulldogs in Jacksonville, FL. Both teams were tied at the top of the SEC East and the winner would have the clear shot at a spot in the SEC Championship game. Andrews was an absolute force on the Gators defensive line that game and spent most plays in the backfield terrorizing the opposing QB. He went on the register 2 sacks and 2 forced fumbles, helping the Gators to a 31-13 win.

Armor Queen did not have the storied football past that many of her teammates had on any team that she has been on. Former Heisman hopefuls, award winners, or hometown heroes made her always feel like bit of an outcast when it came to speaking of her accomplishments. “What have I got?” She would often ask as she roamed her new house in Berlin. The recent move had taken quite the toll on her even if she was settling in well enough. Her mind was doing ok but when she began to unpack the boxes scattered around her new study room, she felt the past begin to creep back up for her. The sight of an old Excalibur keychain she received at a history museum shined at the bottom of a box after moving away a few academic awards she had received. The bright shine brought her back to the fateful night that she found her sword of destiny and made her become the (wannabe) legend that she is today.
4th and goal. 0:03 left in the game. UO is on their own 1-yard line and lined up in an offset power-I, their go-to QB sneak formation. RT Justin Willis knows his job is to get his fists into the first inside defender he sees and shove him hard out of the way. They've drilled it a hundred times. The ball snaps, he charges hard forward and is millimeters from his target when the shrill screech of the whistle pierces through the adrenaline.
"False Start. Offense, number 65. 5 yard penalty, replay 4th down." He groans. Andre Green, their LG, had been having the yips all season on 4th down pushes and this one had been no different. QB sneak was out the window, and he knows without looking that coach is calling their last time-out to gameplan. He waits impatiently with the rest of the O-Line as Davis, their QB, gets the call in his helmet. "Far double-wing right, 86, X Slant, Y Freight Train. On Two." Justin can feel his heart pumping. They'd only ever run this in practices, but the defensive fronts they'd been facing all night weren't set up to defend against this. He can vaguely hear the referee announcing, "Number 71 is eligible" as he lines up tight to the right of his backup. The ball is snapped, and everything goes quiet. He's fast off the line, his high-school Tight End days giving him the leverage he needs to run a bee-line right to the end zone. Just as the LB in coverage on him realizes what's coming, Justin halts up, turning his back to the LB and wrapping his arms around the ball that's hit his chest like a shotgun blast. He falls back into the LB, taking them both to the ground, never losing his vice grip on the ball against his chest. The silence fades, and the roar of sound crashes against his ears as he feels himself being hauled to his feet, the shrill screeches from Davis yelling "You did it, you fucking did it!" It's a memory that will never fade for Justin Willis, his only career receiving touchdown in college.
Carissa gets a reminder on the way to practice from her photos app. It's one of those throwback things that's usually a picture of a mountain or flower or a stupid locker room selfie before a game. But this one stops her in her tracks because it's from 10 years ago, and it's one of the incredibly pixelated photos she imported from the bedazzled flip phone she had all through high school. It's her and her softball team at one of the European tournaments she'd attended. She'd tried every single sport under the sun, and loved team sports. But she and softball hadn't quite worked out - she's smiling in the picture, that much you can see, but she remembers how she'd thrown the bat after being struck out twice by a smug pitcher. She'd almost punched a teammate for missing a catch and her dads had suggested she try football instead. She'd had one tackle and dropped every other sport.

One of the key transforming points in JR Frankenstero's football career actually happened his Junior year of High School, and it partially started during one of his Baseball Games. When they were playing the crosstown rivals he hit a deeeeeep shot Homerun and when he was crossing the plate the Catcher made the comment, "yeah well you would suck at Football." And because of that he went out for the football team his following season and was able to become a starter by the second game of the year. When the final game of the season came and it was against the same cross town rivals, he was able to show that "catcher" a thing or two as he was the other team's main running back. And as tackle after tackle against him came from JR's hard nosed defensive end play, he proved that, "oh yeah I would really suck at football, especially against you." Oops that created the monster that he is today!

Man, the days in high school were wild. LeAnthony LeDavis was a three sport savant, excelling in basketball, baseball, and of course, football. LeAnthony was a star 2nd baseman for his high school, and even played a few baseball seasons at the University of Kentucky. If he wanted to LeAnthony probably could have played baseball, but also been the Bo Jackson of the ISFL/PBE. LeAnthony won high school state titles in his 3 sports, in addition to winning player of the year in baseball and football. At the University of Kentucky LeAnthony was a great running back for the team, helping lead the University to back to back titles in the national championship, the two first ever for the University of Kentucky. LeAnthony, although he was a great athlete in high school, is even better now. Hopefully he can become the most athletic player in the league, I mean wide recovers already are. But he has that athletic pedigree regardless.
Eli Prince's breakout game, mid season at penn state was his most iconic time prior to the ISFL. 12 Receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown to boot. He stamped his name in the record books as one of the most strongest receivers in the game. The crowd roaring and cheering him on it felt like he had the fellowship of his entire college behind him. One catch was over a defender and infront of the free safety. He caught it at the opponents 20, juked to the left of the safety, sprinted down the sideline for a touchdown. It was ging in slow motion and he was awarded the game ball after it was all finished. It will go down as one of the best games in the history of Penn state not only for receivers but for all players in the college football stadium. Always happy to reminsce on the good ol days at Penn STate all the way from New Zealand.
