posted this in pbe to a prompt for pt ideas but it applies equally here:
So my thought is this. What people hate most is a slog, right? "Ugg I'm stuck doing x thing" they'll say. SO why not create a small set of options and just let it be that. Every week your Grab Bag (or whatever better name you call it) could be a list of things you do with your 200 words/graphic to get your 3 and 300k.
Maybe a list of options might include any number of things related to that week like a weekly summary for the player or a specific highlight for the player that occurred that week. You could have choices like writing out a commercial the player appeared in or an interview the player had. You could give a set of questions ranging form serious to silly that each person answers as their player. Like a set press conference (which admittedly is also an idea on it's own). Plus, these options might be better for the graders since it wouldn't be the same slog for them. It would be a new slog with occasionally entertaining results. Let it be loose and a little more fun. Ask players to describe what Paulo Di Stephano smells like and see what the fuck happens. Ask them to place an expansion team in a weird place like San Diego and write up what they would brand it as and what it's like for a city seeing the sport for the first time.
Hell...have players throw in in a list of 5 questions occasionally (and waive the 200 word count for that) so that you don't even have to come up with them yourselves. Throw 'em on a list and randomize which ones get chosen. Rinse and repeat with topics to talk about. Bust out mini 100 word weeks for fun and ease. Give people a topic and claim that there's an extra 2 tpe for anyone who lands on the exact right number of words (and also keep that number a secret til afterwards). Random bonus stuff. Just go wild and hit players with options for what to do or unexpected topics. Mix up the system and monotony of "x topic for this many words and we're barely skimming it anyway" that absolutely dominates sim leagues.
