Going into the draft, I really had no idea what to expect. I decided to not attend the draft in person, and to just have my closest friends and family over to watch the draft unfold. Only a couple of teams expressed interest in me pre-draft. One of those teams was the Palm Beach Solar Bears. I did some scouting of the other receivers in my class, and knew I belonged near the top. I didn't know where receivers typically went in the DSFL, or which team would decide to pull the trigger on me. After the first few rounds went by without my name being called, I started to settle in for what could be a long evening. Thankfully, the people I had with me were supportive, and kept the atmosphere pretty chill.
When I heard my name called, and saw my draft card up on the screen, I was ecstatic. My dream of playing professional football was going to be realized. Palm Beach was the team I wanted to play for, and they had decided to take me as their first receiver off the board. The Co-GMs called and let me know how they were looking forward to me being on the team, and it seemed like they had a great core of guys to compete with. Due to my responsibilities in NM, I have been spending a little of my time away from Palm Beach. The GMs have been extremely flexible and understanding. As the regular season kicks off tomorrow, I'm ready to show on the field how hard I've worked this offseason, and I can't wait to see our team come together.
