DSFL Draft Day - man, was that an experience. I declared later than many of my peers, and I felt being late to the party meant I'd be a later pick in the draft. Beforehand I'd talked to a couple of GM's that were interested in taking me, but I had no idea how soon. Maybe 10th or 12th round? I knew I was good enough to go sooner, I just wasn't sold that teams would be eager to take me. Then, right before pick 45, my phone rang. On the other end, the GM of the Portland Pythons let me know that they'd be picking me with their 8th round pick. I was excited! My family and I all celebrated together as we watched them call my name on the TV. I had no idea I'd go at that point in the draft, and hearing the kind words from the commentators had me overflowing with joy. Of all the teams I could have gone to, I'm very happy to be going to Portland where we believe we'll be competing for a title. To be a part of this great draft class is an honor, and something that I will never forget.
