The DSFL draft day was a hard one for Franklin Armstrong. Slated by many before the draft as the leader of the S14 DSFL QB class, he was quite confident he would go in the first few rounds. “I feel like I’m clearly better than the rest of the class. I’ve put in more work, have more experience and so on. I’m a no-doubt great pick for any team who gets me” said Franklin Armstrong a few hours before the draft.
His draft day party could be described as a humble one, as he only had close relatives and a few childhood friends there at the small event. He and his family ended up sitting there for hours upon hours waiting for Armstrong to get picked, as the world watched Armstrong fall shockingly all the way to the 63rd pick of the 11th round of the draft. Armstrong ignored reporters as he seemed clearly distraught.
“Why did he fall so far?” was a question on many people’s minds, and most importantly his family's and friends. Whether it be the tough Prospect Bowl experience, or Armstrong being slightly less accessible to media as other QB prospects, the fall still has many people scratching their heads.
Armstrong, having mulled over the terrible day over the period of a week, sent out this tweet to the DSFL community. Despite the fall, Armstrong has been put in a great situation when compared to other QBs of his draft class. As Caleb McCoy has been called up to the NSFL, Armstrong will be given the reigns to the Pythons S14 QB position. He seems to be fully determined to prove the doubters wrong in his rookie year in the DSFL!
