I was sitting at home with my family and friends right before the draft when I got a call from my agent. He told me to not worry about my draft position since the draft class was a record setting one in terms of size. I had no idea I would fall all the way to the seventh round. It was great to watch all of the players I had played with and against get drafted, especially my brothers from the Blackbirds. But after the fourth round passed I started to get worried if I would even get drafted at all. I had gathered all of these people here to watch where I would end up and the idea that I might not end up anywhere and disappoint terrified me. Finally I got that call. I was heading back to the tropics after 4 years in frigid Wisconsin. I was a Solar Bear. Me, someone who never touched a football until my first year of college. I was a professional football player. I was obviously elated and relieved and although I fell much farther than I had anticipated but I was lucky to get a chance to show that I belonged. The GM told me how lucky he was that I was still there in the 7th round and I'm determined to prove him right.
