You will have ten days to complete the Ultimus Week point task so the deadline will be May 2nd, 2019 11:59PM PST.
CHOOSE 4 TASKS, EACH WILL BE REWARDED 2.5 TPE FOR COMPLETION FOR A MAXIMUM OF 10 TPE
Rules:
1) Written tasks must be at least 200 words (No exceptions).
2) You can do any option for any task, they can be a mix, but please only do each task once.
3) Only submit one post in this thread.
4) Graphics must be more than text on an image, it is Ultimus week, show Ultimus effort. It is up to graders discretion to give credit, so don’t give us a reason to deny you TPE
5) This year we will keep the podcast options, please stay on topic for the task, make sure to include 5 minutes of talk on the task you are working with. Podcast options can be used in place of any of the Written options.
6) As it is too hard and complicated to time the podcast for media money and task credit, if you do a podcast it can only be for Ultimus week. Do a separate podcast if you want media credit.
7) You may use a PBE, SHL, and GOMHL PT as credit for a maximum of 2 tasks here.
8) You can only use each affiliate once, even if it is different weeks (So no PBE PT week 4/21 and PBE PT week 4/28 as an example).
9) These tasks can be written about the NSFL or DSFL playoffs.
Here we go with the Tasks...
1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews:
Written: Give a short write up of one or multiple playoff matches. If completed before the airing of the sims have predictions, after if it is a review the game.
Graphic: Make a graphic displaying the matchups in the playoffs. If completed before sim, predict scores and show stats, if after, give a summary of game showing stats and top performers.
Alright so the 9-5 teams both ended up playing eachother in the Ultimus, how many of you fools could've guessed this? Absolutely definetly not me that's for sure. Anyway the San Jose SaberCats finally did it, they defeated the Philadelphia Liberty 36-24 in a feast of explosive offense. Both teams absolutely struggled in the first quarter only able to put up 6 points between them. But the second period is where it exploded, with both teams putting up two touchdowns a piece except the foolish SaberCats cocked up their extra point attempt and went in at the break down by just a single point. The third quarter
The scoring slowed down for the Liberty, securing just a single touchdown in the fourth quarter while San Jose added that and a field goal to make it an easy run in for them down the stretch to secure their first ever Ultimus title in franchise history. Not the easiest way to do it but they clutched it down the line thanks to Christ going 232 yards, 18/28 with 2 touchdowns along with Orosz rushing 74 from 13 carries and another touchdown. In the end they finally did it, and gee whiz what a way to do it.
7) Next year
Written: If your team has been eliminated, why will next year, or the year after that, be the year that your team is going to win the Ultimus or Ultimini.
While I'm not on any DSFL team, well technically I am still on the Kansas City Coyotes until the S15 DSFL Draft rolls around and I find myself uprooted, in a new state on a new DSFL team. It's gonna be pretty tough to speak about why that team will win next season because I don't know what team that is.
Instead I'm gonna speak about a team I do know well, that is of course the Yellowknife Wraiths who I spent my entire career with during my Lavelle Sr. run. I believe that from my insider knowledge of the roster and the war room that Yellowknife are making a big push to win it all in S15, they're making money moves alright. If not for S15, then for sure S16. Yellowknife historically has drafted guys who fit into the existing LR culture, of course that's never a static but rather always dynamic and consistently in transition. Matching the users to the LR opposed to just players to TPE is how you win championships in the NSFL. I should know, after all I won atleast uhh 1 whole championship in my 13 seasons with Yellowknife in the NSFL. Hey! My advice still counts... right?
9) Rivalries
Written: Write about another team and why they are overrated and why you want them to lose.
Graphic: Show a statistical representation of why said team is overrated.
Why did I want the San Jose SaberCats to lose? Well I don't actually but I've gotta fill my 200 word quotas. San Jose SaberLols have given us a feast of meme-able moments, like that time they finally made the playoffs for the first time in their awful history, pretty sure they had like 11 or 12 wins, best regular season record. But then they choked in the playoffs and went back to full meme.
I think San Jose finally got their shit together last season and there were all sorts of boasts and claims that it was there year, only to choke yet another playoff series away. But I can't really say that I wanted them to lose, really I wanted Orange County to lose so that San Jose could finally get over their boogeyman which was the playoffs and by extension the Ultimus. Now that they've got it now in their grasp, one would hope San Jose would be able to keep the momentum going and challenge for the championship for the next 2-3 seasons.
Orange County are overrated and I wanted them to lose because spec is a very mean guy and all his wins are by pure luck, he is a bum.
15) Unsung Hero
Written: Who was the unsung hero of the playoffs, convince us.
Graphic: Show is player and their statistical reasoning for being the unsung hero.
Now you may say to yourself, how on earth could Christ be the unsung hero of the playoffs when he was literally on the Ultimus winning team playing at the most popular position in the league, in the sport for the matter. While he was also a candidate for the regular season MVP award and the offensive player of the year title, well I'll explain to you exactly how.
I spent the majority of this season doing real life stuff and trying to get my degree and I didn't have a player in the league and I never really foresaw the SaberCats really ever winning anything. You can imagine my suprise when they somehow make the playoffs, beat OCO and then rise to the Ultimus and actually win the big one for the first time in fourteen incredibly poor seasons of existing.
Warren was the unsung hero not because of his stats, but because of the pressure of the entire franchise he had on his back. He performed and got them there god damn chip he did. He went out there and thrived and really one could call him the greg jennings of the San Jose SaberCats. If you get that reference, then that's all really what I need to say.
