This offseason was a rather harsh one for Leaf, coming off his third straight season of playoff heartbreak, only to be told shortly afterwards that he’ll be traded to Chicago, almost considered to be where good players go to die and retire. This did not affect Leaf, as he was quick to adapt to the conditions in the Windy City, it’s not as cold as the northern Canadian city of Yellowknife, but modest conditions, including warmer summers in the city of Chicago. Leaf was also joined by his Head Coach from Yellowknife, Videl-San, but this time, she is the General Manager of the Butchers, which even surprised Leaf at that exact moment, but he also had to adapt to the culture in Chicago, including the fact he was going to be reunited with his former rival, Rose Jenkins, who was a bit disgusted of Leaf’s presence in the Locker room.
Besides team bonding, Leaf surprised everyone on the team with a vacation in Hawaii in which included an exhibition game against the so called "Honolulu Islanders" a team consisting of players of Hawaiian decent. The game was lopsided by a final score of 48-14 crushing of the Locals, with Leaf showing his pass rusher capabilities.
