I will probably have a hard time writing too much about Dotts since it does not work on Chrome yet and I feel like installing a different browser for one website. But I think I have talked to enough people that actually use it to give my opinion on how it could grow and get better and what could be added content-wise. I think one of the main points of improvement that should be done soon to immensely enhance the quality of life of Dotts (next to browser compatibility for Chrome, because come on, I know I’m salty about that, but it’s Chrome and it’s like the easiest Browser to develop for) is the implementation of trading. When you start to have an easy trade system in there, it all starts to have a lot more appeal for people, because right now it’s a website to look at nice pictures. Which is generally fine, but visually (not the cards themselves, they are gorgeous) and on the technical side I think there is a lot to be improved.
And I get it, it’s an early version of the big vision for it, but for it to take off there needs to be constant development to actually incentivize people to spend their hard earned cash on it. Next to trading and duplicates a way would be to gamify the experience more. Give people a reason they want to spend money on it other than to just have the cards. Give them ways to compare themselves to each other, form “bundles” when they have collected all cards of a special series or something. I think Steam Trading Cards are a great way to look at it. Maybe even give them the ability to sell cards on a Market for ISFL cash. Stuff like this could draw people more into Dotts and enhance the experience for everyone.
