The Sarasota Sailfish are the ISFL’s hottest team to date. Riding an 8 game winning streak going into the final regular season game of the year, the Sailfish have secured the number 2 seed in the NSFC. During the eight game streak, they have defeated playoff locks and contenders including: Arizona, Philly, Colorado, and Chicago. In fact, the streak was necessary for the team because of the weak 2-5 start to the season. Week 16 will be a meaningless game for the fish for playoff positioning unless San Jose were to outscore them by 90 points, so we could see some meme strats. To this point, Sarasota has been an explosive passing offense and the defense has been above average. This is to be expected given the array of Pro Bowl skill position players that possible league MVP Dexter Banks has had at his disposal. I think the key to Sarasota’s win streak has been their ability to take care of the ball on offense and not turn it over. If Banks and the rest of the crew can continue this trend they can compete with anybody. I expect them to win their home wildcard game and once again be road underdogs at Colorado. It was a close game last year in the conference championship and I believe Sarasota has narrowed the talent gap, so they have a solid chance to win the NSFC. If that happens, I expect them to be favored against anybody not name Orange County.
