The birth and rise of the Austin cooperheads is the greatest fairy tail story of the ISFL so far. One of the two teams in the expansion of the league in s15, the copperheads strived to build and extremely young and talented roster that would grow together in the league and eventually win the championship game. They assembled a young set of expansion picks, along with a recreating coGM to be their QB of the future, they then started trading straight away to build more future draft capital, tanking their own reserves to build and extremely solid foundation.
During the s16 draft their second they made 3 first round picks. Picking up the controversial Dermot, who had fallen to mid round before Austin selected them and the. They also made 2 rookie picks with Tomasnz and Mooty, both of whom would help creat a strong and friendly lockerroom while also adding that 24 hour feel you get when you draft euros. From a draft class of only 16 players they managed to net 4 highly active players as well as their Co GM, their ability to build through making strong drafting decisions was immediately on display.
The first season was an surprising and total disaster. They failed to win a game and the team easily landed the first overal pick for the s17 draft. Throught hat first season though a number of people in the team started to be recruited by Adam and JoK in order to increase the warroom competency as well as the activity in the room. Season 17 started with total calamity, with one of the great league controversies, #resimgate. A number Austin players (although with some others across the league, but especially significant for Austin) were found not to have been updated. A resim was decided on, and Austin recorded their first ever franchise win during that SIM run. However as veteran users will know, this was all undone. And Austin had to wait another sim to record a win.
By the time the post season if s18 rolled around Austin had shaken it's easy beat status, and even managed its first playoff birth. Likewise s19 Austin turned around a disastrous start and managed to claim a playoff spot on the final day of the season. However in both s18&19 Austin were eliminated first round in the back of making the playoffs with losing records.. that would all change in S20..
The fairy tale came to a surprisingly quick end with the Austin cooperheads going the distance in only it's fifth season of playing. Winning it all against the highly fancied Wraiths. And the proved to the league it was no fluke with a return to the finals the following season, although this time leaving with a runner up ribbon instead if the ultimate prize.
Scouting report for Chet Larson, player manager Tomasnz.
Chet Larson is a linebacker that takes the balanced archetypes to the extreme, finishing the season with 4 attributes over 70, with another (hands) near its build maximum. He has shown this on the field as well making starts as a traditional edge rusher as well as at both Sam and Mike linebacker, and therefore finishing as the team leaders in sacks, putting up contributions in tackles with a high ratio of tackles for loses, and in the passing game as the she area zone coverage player with passes defenced and even interceptions. He has a nose for big plays with 3 defenaive player of the game awards for the season and even a safety.
As a player manager Tomasnz is almost as rounded as the player he represents. A great locker room presence always willing to build on the conversations happenings whether about music, film, TV, books or sports, or even...the SIM. But he is also adapt at creating lockeroom activity and pulling team mates into the conversation with both a conversational and inclusive style of interaction. Warning that all goes out the window when rugby is discussed where he becomes a typical arrogant kiwi. Based in the UK timezone he also adds a diamession of 24 hour activity to any lockerroom. In terms of activity on the site, he is a sim league veteran on his first recreate and significant user on the sister site ShL, he won't be max earning like some of these new rookies out to prove themselves to the league, he is a confident and consistent earner and will be able to create a strong player to contribute to which ever team drafts him.

How was this team‘s challenge significant, and how did they engineer a recovery? What key moves or plays were the lynchpin to victory?
