This league has been everything I imagined and more. I had been searching for a football simulation where I could control a single player, rather than a team. But had never found anything on any App Store or Google. I’d been playing various college football coach games that allow me to control a team in a simulation. But they didn’t quite scratch the itch that I was having. When I saw the link for the ISFL on Reddit, I thought it was too good to be true and wasn’t sold on it yet. Once I made my player, I was a bit behind some of the other players of my class and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Spending time in the Grey Ducks LR made the off-season time pass really quickly which really kept me from the leaving the league during the first long and boring offseason. When my first season started is when I was hooked. The gameplay, the stats, the teammates, it was more that I could have hoped for. The league became something of a guilty pleasure that I used as an escape. I could hop on discord and chat with my team about anything, watch the games and talk about the stats afterwards, it has become a way for me to take my mind off of a stressful day. My second season this has become more and more apparent. The activity and talking with my teammates has been the same, but now I actually have ahead a good season to talk about. Having a season under my belt has made the off-season easier to handle. I can keep track of awards and be more invested because I recognize the names now and this has made the season and off-season easier to deal with. I really can’t put it into words how much this league is starting to mean to me. I have made some really great friends so far, and that has made the experience so much better. No matter what the outcome of a season or the stats, I will always have those friends there to talk with. That alone has made the league more than just a game, it has become a place of friends, fun, rivals, and an escape from the world where I can relax, immerse myself into my player, watch the games and of course trash talk a few rivals along the way. That’s another part I enjoy is the rivalries. They can get too far sometimes, but they’re mostly in good fun and I enjoy that a ton. Overall this league has easily Jumped to the front of my favorite games and it isn’t really even a game since technically I don’t really play it. But for myself and many others I think the league means new friends, a community to be a part of, and of course, sim football.
