After legendary WHS head coach Jim DeSarno retires, the high school is scrambling to find someone to replace him, even temporarily. Looking at their long list of distinguished alumni, they come across Albert Ruschmann. A current ISFL star and former player for the team, he fits the bill perfectly. His first opponent is the team's long-time rival, Plainfield. They have always been the thorn in Westfield's side, with Plainfield winning 9 of the last 10 matchups between the two. Albert Ruschmann is determined to win.
The game doesn't start out as planned. Westfield's quarterback throws two ugly interceptions and the team is down 17-3 at the half. Albert Ruschmann, to get the team fired up, puts on a tape at halftime. It's his own highlight reel from when he played at the high school, including the state championship game his senior year. Inspired by Ruschmann's sheer skill on the field, the team gets inspired and vows to come back and win. And sure enough, they do. The defense held Plainfield to just 6 points in the second half, while Westfield ran in 3 scores on the ground, resulting in a 24-23 victory. The school administration offers Albert the permanent job on the spot, but he knows that he is destined for bigger things, like an Ultimus victory.
