As a former participant in Marcella Toriki’s non-profit, Girl Strong, Raeni Clarke is continuing to give back to the organization now that she has joined the ranks of professional football. She’s recently been hosting tours of stadiums across the country as part of their Girls Day Out initiative. This initiate is aimed at getting girls from underserved neighbourhoods the chance to go out and enjoy sporting events that would otherwise be far outside their means to attend. While the focus is on football, Girl Strong has been able to work with female professional athletes in hockey and baseball to host Girls Days Out. Raeni’s days out include a tour of the stadium and a chance to meet local ISFL players before getting to sit on the sidelines to watch a game. She’s been able to connect with a lot of young girls, including a whole group from where she grew up. Taking them around the Concrete Jungle in New York with Peter Brand and her mentor Marcella’s dear friend Bubba Thumper was a real honor. Raeni’s looking forward to seeing the girls she gets to help mentor go on to succeed in their athletic endeavors and feel empowered to take on the world in all elements of life.
