As a member of the season thirty six draft class I can’t say as to where the members of my class will be going on April 28th, since, ya know, it hasn’t happened yet. We haven’t even started the pre draft process for any potential Leeks. But given that this class currently sits at 122 people and still growing there should be more than enough to talk about. Starting with myself, most would know me either as my discord and forum name Rusfan, or as my previous players name Joel Drake, Pythons and Yeti safety, and Pythons hall of famer. Now I’ve recreated as possession Receiver Mandrews McHollywood who started really slow but is rapidly getting faster with my TPE investments. My goal with this player is firstly to go in the first round, both in the DSFL and the ISFL draft, given that my previous player was a perpetual second rounder. I think there’s a very good chance of that, as most teams are always looking for wide receivers and I’m in pretty good standing. If I had to make a guess, there’s a good shot the Portland Pythons make a move to grab me early which would make me very happy. In fact, teams grabbing recreates they were familiar with was a big reason why Drake fell to the second round last time around.
Moving on to some of the other notable players and users in this class, Slate is the first that jumps out to me. The former Sailfish retired his player Peter Patterson on March 26th and recreated as fullback Leandre Diarra just 6 days later. Maxing Patterson out at 1,408 TPE before regression took it’s toll Slate is gonna be one of the most highly sought after users in the upcoming draft. The issue with his value is I’m not sure how much people are going to want a fullback. Running backs don’t usually go until the second round or later, and as a fullback his value is even worse. This will be interesting to see just how much value is placed on the user vs the player. Slate is very much a 1st round user, but I’m not sure his player is better than round 3.
Next up is Raven. Formerly known as the Hahalua Safety Davriel Lavigne maxing out just shy of 1500 TPE Raven is no stranger to making players in this league, Octavio Perez marks his 4th, and the second on the offensive side of the ball. With a strong Honolulu connection from Lavigne it wouldn’t be a shock to see a return, though on the DSFL side of things, I have no prediction.
Steg also makes an appearance in this class after Colt Mendoza the hybrid DT/CB retired from the Silverbacks after reaching a TPE height of 1378, max for either position. Look for the former Birddog to possibly return to the Ultimini champions, and then who knows? You normally see these recreates go high, and I’m making no exception for Steg, even if he might rub some people the wrong way. As with the others, I won;t really make a prediction for his ISFL landing spot, but as stated I think a Dallas reunion certainly out of the question.
In summary, S36 looks to be the biggest class since S22’s craziness, and though we won’t come close to eclipsing that number, it still looks to be an exciting expansion of the league. Classes like this means that worthy players can be found all over the draft, and it should not be an insult for anyone if you fall farther than it seems you should.
