14. Berlin was in a weird spot going into this season. We expected to be decent, but not great. After a 2-2 preseason that saw us take losses to San Jose and New Orleans there was not much in the way of expectations. Then in week one and two we had wins over Philly (24-13) and the Wraiths (31-26) and it brought us some hope that maybe the season would be a pleasant surprise. The next week however we took a loss to Chicago (31-15) and it kind of snuffed out the hope that we started to have. Follow that up with a loss to Sarasota in a close (41-33) loss and we sat at 2-2 after the fourth week. Things began to look like they would be average this season, much like we had expected. The thing was, the team never seemed to give up even at that point. The next four weeks saw wins over Colorado (37-27), Austin (28-22), and San Jose (38-35). The one loss came by way of a last second field goal to the Baltimore Hawks (30-27). At this point the team was sitting at 5-3. The defense was humming by this point and Goat Tank was carrying the team on offence. The next two weeks saw another 1-1 record, bringing the team to 6-4. It was not until the last 6 weeks that the team really broke out. In the final 6 games Berlin went 5-0-1. With wins over the Wraiths, Philly, New Orleans, Colorado and Baltimore and an tie with Sarasota. This string of game to end the season really pulled the team ahead of the pack. A huge reason for the resurgence toward the end of the season was Goat Tank. He finished the season with 1701 rushing yards for 10 TDs on the season. He was quite literally the tank on offence paving the way for wins.
