In the offseason, Newman has to make sure he’s in the perfect shape to get ready for the new season. He does this by going on runs every morning while it’s not too hot (since Austin gets quite steamy in the summer) and he lifts weights every afternoon to keep his muscles nice and firm. He makes sure to keep track of his diet, not eating too much fats and oils but still giving himself chances to splurge on desserts and fast food (since a star running back has to enjoy himself sometimes). He talks with his coaches and teammates not worrying too much about the next season’s gameplans but just chatting about football since they enjoy doing so so much and to keep their minds active. He goes on hikes in the Hill Country and enjoys all that Austin and the surrounding area has to offer, like the bat caves and the myriad rivers that flow through the heart of Texas. Finally, he practices new drills and formations just so he’s not caught off-guard when practices start up again in the new season.
