Mental and emotional discipline is a key to succeeding in the International Simulation Football League, or indeed in any sport or in life in general. Many players come into the league with hangups and other unresolved issues in their past that can create struggles in maintaining emotional discipline during the tense high-pressure moments that come up frequently in games. Understanding and working towards resolving these issues is always a priority for the Orange County Otters so that players (and coaches!) can maintain their composure and avoid frustration that can lead to blown coverages, crucial penalties, or even ejections. To this end, the Otters new management that took over prior to the start of the 2052 season made efforts to encourage players to seek out professional mental health support and bringing in staff, like sports psychologists and other therapy specialists, to provide that support in-house. These efforts have been positively received by players and the result has been encouraging as the Otters have performed strongly in the highest pressure situations they have been faced with so far in the 2053 season.
