Eliot Bukowski’s offseason involved extensive travel spanning across the United States. Not one too splurge and a huge fan of the great American road trip, all travel was done by car to various national and state parks. As a writer on the side, Bukowski’s creative energies were fueled by the nature he witnessed. It provided him a quiet space to meditate and find the clarity of mind that many artists yearn for. In addition, the hikes, specifically in mountainous regions, were tests of his leg strength, benefiting his kicking power for the upcoming season. Bukowski brought a football with him, sometimes testing if he could kick it between a couple close branches. Although enjoying the peace of nature, Bukowski knew that any lapse in training meant that other kickers were improving when he wasn’t, so he made sure to use the natural wood goalposts available to him in the forests. However, Bukowski grew a lengthy beard during this trip, reaching nearly to the ground, that he has yet to shave. Only time will tell if this effects his ability to kick.
